No, winning the comp means only one person liked your image. There is only one judge. ( hence Stefan's good idea for the voting comp) I know people who change images to suit the judge!
It was a good idea: Just waiting for the entries for the Night-time voting competition to be posted.
The reasons it stopped are a different kettle of fish. I kind of like my fish fresh.
I never got why it just stopped. I suppose when the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea.

There is a dilemna for popular, wide-ranging subjects. I set flowers as a competition subject and spent the rest of the week judging it. I do find a more restricted topic more interesting amd generally more creative.

I try to support the comps. Recent entry counts in the weekly have been on a par with a year ago. I forgot about the fortnightly - I've got a shot that will suit but I'll try and take a better one. I'm struggling with the monthly, very good theme but I haven't been out much - we have gite guests and all sorts of other visitors to look after in summer so I am largely confined to chasing bloody flies around the garden.

Always good to see these aerial photos. I find that where you have rock and water, it is sometimes difficult to convey the scale, as big things can look exactly the same as small things - one of those fractal geometry thingies. Ice floes could be an icy puddle, for example. Not a criticism just a rambling observation. So the ones which work best for me are those which are most obviously large scale. Confluence is my pick of this series, look forward to the coffee table book one day.

Neither are the French, they like an interesting sausage though:

'Ane' always pleases the children.

I'm to be found in the middle of France if anyone ever passes this way, particularly anyone with a DA* something or Ltd something.

Have a good meet.

Impressive IQ (particularly 2), just needs a bit of noise reduction. The messy background is a shame but it's a good shot nonetheless. An interesting 'macro' option.

As general walkabout prime options I have the M50f1.7 and the K35f3.5 The 35 wins it hands down, it is just such a versatile focal length.
