Impressive IQ (particularly 2), just needs a bit of noise reduction. The messy background is a shame but it's a good shot nonetheless. An interesting 'macro' option.

Unfortunately they never land where you want them to ! I was actually astonished that the 55-300 could do this !

Nice captures, the second one is very sharp, and the messy background doesn't bother me. It's the insects environment, after all. I may have to rethink my ideas about getting this lens....
In both pictures the background looks a bit noisy, perhaps some NR on the backgrounds only might improve them further?
