I have sent quite a few emails to the web developers pointing out bugs and suggested improvements. I know them by name now.

The pattern has been very strange. Of the backlog from the old system 10 were declined in a row and very quickly after relaunch(including some of my better ones). Then after a while the rest of the backlog, 15 were approved. Of the new uploads one on 24th October which is still pending and ten on 27th October - all approved within a couple of weeks or so. The month's worth of uploads since then are all pending.

There are so many software bugs that I don't think one can assume any integrity in the way the voting system works; how the photos are presented in the voting hierarchy and how the votes for and against are registered and stored. Some photos are simultaneously shown as approved and pending on different sections of the user dashboard for example.

It is so long since launch that basic functionality should have been sorted by now.

I had five upload slots this morning. After uploading just one shot I got the message: We're sorry, you hit your upload limit of 5 photos for the week.

Dear Pentax: close the site, sack your incompetent web developer and start from scratch.

If you can't get on with a £1,000 odd lens then I doubt whether you'll learn to like it a £1,000 worth. Cash in.

Pentax don't need to advertise to me either. But I do think they need to advertise the Q, which seems to me a triumph of style over substance and therefore a marketing driven product.

I would wait and see what becomes of the Ricoh thing before switching. For me the best Pentax primes are worth staying with Pentax for and if Pentax goes FF then acquire a FF body as well as a K5 and get the best of both worlds.

Have been toying with the idea of a go everywhere compact for certain situations. Q is not worth it imo, and would definietly need to shoot RAW. Shame Pentax don't cater for that.

But if you wanted a lens to cover the wide range of a compact which lens would you choose for the Kr?

Seems quite sensible to me to have a section for general chat on photographic topics only. I don't want to scroll through a load of topics on golf or godforbid ManU. Pentaxforums has a separate off topic section, that strikes as sensible too as I can choose to ignore all non-photographic topics completely. It would presumably too lessen moderator resentment as deletion of topics could be restricted to ManU themes.
