yeah people at the local Sev' (that's 7/11 a convience store), all look at me kinda' strange when I grab a Super Big Gulp, and fill it up about 3/4 full...(leaving just enough room for a micky of Canadian Club).

well perhaps, being from the UK you have trouble putting Canada into perspective, George...

Out here, in Manitoba, We have farms bigger than your country.
Mac, while welcome here any time is far far away from here and is getting much worse weather than me right now....
I hope he's staying warm too.

Speaking of refreshments...have you ever heard of a "Slurpee"?
It is basically just a softdrink (Pepsi/Coke/7Up...etc) put into a machine and churned and chilled till it's a nearly frozen slush.

Winnipeg, oddly enough is the "Slurpee" capital of North America.
Pretty pathetic really, when you consider that for ten months out of the year, we drink "Slurpee's" to thaw out our insides.....

buy 'em all.
learn to use em all.
use whatever works best to get the shot.

I use primes and zooms, and even super zooms.
I will buy the 18-250 after I get the macro 100, and the 16-50.
need to finish a stack of jobs before xmas though.....javascript:emoticon('')

Minox and Lieca should tremble in fear at the prospect of a 6-8 mp Digital slr from pentax that takes those lenses (and even a few new ones)...
I can't imagine finding a full frame sensor would be difficult...

Hell even a digital camera sensor set into a 110 film cartridge that you could pop into the 110 body....(have it activate when you advance the winder, and wait for the exposure). pull it out and plug a usb cable for downloads...

Do you know how to read the histogram? If it looks good, and only the camera's lcd looks dark, you can adjust the lcd brightness in the menus where the tool icons are.

I deliberately turn the brightness down on my d-slrs.....
because in bright light outdoors they are hard to see anyways, and in the dark, they make the image look lighter than it really is, so I figure I only use it to read the INFO and histogram, might as well save battery power and turn down the brightness. (it is set to look similar to my computer monitor in my studio)

Following complaints in the previous two weeks that the first competition entry has been "...(too) bloody good..." I've given y'all something - quite literally - rubbish to follow this week.
so does that mean you "RECYCLED" it from your rubbish bin?
BRILLIANT!!!

Ben explains how to use talcum powder (!!!) and how a journalist for a photography magazine famously misunderstood how he used it as a diffuser.
I'm curious....
are you simply using it on your subject (to take glare off skin for example), or something more creative?

I love the way Talc was used to create shafts of light in the old B+W movies, and I'm getting some interesting ideas here...

I ripped apart an old printer, to see if the peizo electric printhead could be used to vaporize gasoline to replace the venturi in a minkuni carburator to improve throttle respons/fuel effiency on a motorcycle......

ran out of money/parts/fireextinguishers before I was able to prove my theory....

I know that using my multimeter set to continuity test mode, can reset the chip in an epson ink cartridge.....just by probing two of the electrical contacts on the cartridges chip.
