well perhaps, being from the UK you have trouble putting Canada into perspective, George...
Out here, in Manitoba, We have farms bigger than your country.
Mac, while welcome here any time is far far away from here and is getting much worse weather than me right now....
I hope he's staying warm too.
Speaking of refreshments...have you ever heard of a "Slurpee"?
It is basically just a softdrink (Pepsi/Coke/7Up...etc) put into a machine and churned and chilled till it's a nearly frozen slush.
Winnipeg, oddly enough is the "Slurpee" capital of North America.
Pretty pathetic really, when you consider that for ten months out of the year, we drink "Slurpee's" to thaw out our insides.....

Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Hey you two!
Just in from my 3rd snow-blowing session today. It isn't officially winter yet, so this makes it one of the worst autumn's in my long, feeble memory. We have 90+ centimeters down so far in Montreal and just don't know where to put the blamed stuff.
The ski hill operators - normally a whiney bunch - are very, very quiet this year. Off in the back room counting their money I suppose.
Out Don's way it's probably too cold to snow all that much?
Slurpees! yeah, baby! We gots lots o class in Canada - anything to do with ice and cold, we're in! Tried a beer slurpee once - BIG mistake. Thought it would be thoroughly Canadian - just thoroughly gross.
George, I continue to flog the virtues of Bowmore to any and all who will listem. Not always easy to find over 'ere, but certainly worth the wait.
I hope all is well on the isle with you and yours, and that you still enjoy your little early eveing ritual - I smile every time I envision it.
Gents, both of your camers are in regular use, and both perform like the champions they are. Man, I'm gonna miss film! I'll probably keep some dummy rolls to run through once in a while just to hear slap, click, whirr's I've grown to love.
Man, I gotta get out more - maybe build an igloo.......
CHEERS!!

Heh heh heh...
At least I don't have to shovel RAIN.
It is quite cold though... +7°C... and the good stuff is wonderful when mixed with Coke, or eggnog.

I was chatting to a friend in Victor NY last night. She was sick of the snow already. I read that Canada is expecting a really bad winter. I hope they are wrong for you guys! And for my new great nephew, Zack, born Tuesday in Toronto
We have had a week of below zero temps so we are happy. Nice dry cold. Lovely. The Dutch are wildly excited as they managed the first ice skating race on natural ice yesterday. Even our local natural ice rink was open briefly yesterday. It is -5 here this morning so if the sun doesn't come out it may open again today. Back to wet weather for Christmas though
Slurpees - are those the same as Slush Pupppies? The sound the same. Mmmm not sure about a beer flavoured one though!
PS just let the dogs out in the garden and it is snowing bah! I HATE snow.

I will try and send you over some of this good Aussie summer and sunshine
We have been getting some sporadic heavy rainfall of late, I just hope its enough to break the drought
We have been on water restrictions for 4 years now in Sydney. No washing the car, No watering the lawn, 5minute showers.
We even have water police who patrol the streets looking for offenders.

John and Matt -
Look what George has started - a whole thread with nary even a mention of gear or photos.
Just a bunch of serious photographers from around the globe having a chuckle about something over which we have no control, but are always photographing - the weather.
(I think we're all hiding from Lilly)
Happy Holidays everyone!
