Amoringello, I like and respect your position. Me I'm not taking this thread too seriously.
You notice some of us just had a few laughs, and most concour with you.
It's best not to take matters like this, and other occasional rants too seriously.

I don't think we'll scare too many off.

I'd be more concerned about places where people can't express themselves freely.

Enough - it should be obvious that I feel strongly about this and I will not fall out with other respected members of this forum by continuing in this vein.
It takes alot more than a difference of opinion to "fall out" with the good people here.

It helps to remember that the opposite of love is not hate.
love and hate are too similar. they are both forms of passion.
the opposite of love is apathy.

so it would appear that failing to respond (to anybody in particular) out of apathy is the best revenge!

To quote an old maritial arts instructor, I once studied under...

(as he held me down in a chokehold....javascript:emoticon(''))

"Here's the thing....
You know everything I taught you....
You know that I know everything I taught you....
But you'll NEVER know, if I taught you EVERYTHING that I know..."

one would hope that by sharing, your teaching your pupils to share.

So, how do you guys use your macs? How would you partition the boot drive (how much space to give windows etc.)? Is keeping one drive for my photos, one drive for Fiona's photos the best idea? What would be the best kind of workflow given the extra horse power we now have?
Aperture (and lightroom)sort images just fine so seperate drives doesn't make much sense.

However, seperate drives for your vault or backup makes sense. (my system is set up to import the images to one drive, rename them with date/time (exif renamer) before importing them to Aperture (multi computer set up..this happens on my laptop). Those files stay on that drive, then Aperture copys then into it's own library, and backs them up into it's vault (that's three copies on three different drive if your counting). The first drive gets stored off site.

Look into Automator, and applescripts to speed up your workflow.

Now set up a dedicated drive(s) for your photoshop scratchdisc (a partition on one drive will work) and also consider a raid if you do video.

I trust that the people that designed the equipment, knew what they were doing.

So I leave my camera set to "MTF" as default. I can rest assured that I'll get the sharpest image possible. Of course I only take the camera's advice as a starting point, a suggestion. From there on I take over, and change settings as needed, to make the shot!
