no flies. I'll put him back in the pond, and he can roll the dice just like the rest of them. oddly enough...he did ask if the neighbours pig was single...

well to my little boys amazment, one of the tadpoles we captured (shooting them in the pond was too time consuming), has dissappeared and look what we found in it's place!
the little guy is less than one centimeter long, shot with ds2, 100mm macro.

Well George, I love to laugh!
I don't generally advocate harassing, endangering, or stressing out the critters. Some purists argue about feeding/baiting, or even photographing captive animals.
I suppose if I was trying to pass my shots of as "Nature" or "Wildlife" shots, but I'm not, I'm simply using the photos to help my 4 yr old understand the metamorphosis that takes place. I'm also grabbing some frog photos to illustrate a childrens short story that Gerri has written.

Luckily for me, I can do that in my own yard with hot coffee, at hand.

well the first one was done by setting a dry aquarium in my pond, and putting the camera below the surface... so is losing image quality from both the dirty aquarium glass and the water.

the second was done with the tadpole captive in a clear plastic filtercase, set atop a plastic container, with a polarizer and flash unit underneath.

the colors come from polarized light hitting the clear plastic.

it was a by-product, the goal was to be able to increase or decrease the brightness of the background light by twisting the polarizer on the lens.
I wanted a translucent effect to see his insides and only backligh+fill was gonna make that work.....

if somebody grabbed you from your home, stuck you in an invisible containment feild, blasted you with brightlights, you might wind up crapping yourself...

Check your pulse? (still got one? Great!)
Next question...
Where do you set your lcd settings for reviewing? I find that having the image jump to 4x magnification on review works for me. I get to see how sharp the image is quickly.
Sorry you had such a bad day...we've all been there and feel for ya.
But you got it sorted and there's always today and tommorow!

some glycerin and a fine tipped paint brush.....
paint a trail and they will follow.....
now if your trail runs from a place they frequent, past a nice backdrop, where your lights/reflectors are set up....
