A Sigma 100-300DL. I had a 60-300 Sigma and taking it out a few days back found the zoom ring was stuck solid. I assume that the tape used instead of lock rings had extruded all its adhesive which had then set. The old lens was manual focus, not a problem at full extension, and when I found the new one with AF at less than £40 posted, I thought that the repair to the old one would be substantially more, so I went for it.
All works the way you want it to (even the AF).

Won't it stick back on? Even a replacement would require sticking.
If I could find it, that is just what I would do.

Now that Pentax have pulled out of the UK, and JPL have closed, where does one go for spares?
I took out my X-5 this week, only to find that the insert from the mode dial was no longer in place. OK, so I can still use it by looking at the monitor, but I want it complete.

So where do I go?

I have to agree with KimC
The question of focus direction has been going on for years, and I certainly remember it being a topic back in the '70s.
The general view was that Pentax and Nikon went one way, while Canon, Leica. and Minolta went the other.
3rd party lenses? My guess is that it depended on sales volume - those that I have handy in Pentax K mount work in the direction that Kim would expect - even a Vivitar mirror lens in T-1 mount. Of course, the distance from lens to film plane could be a factor when deciding which mounts to market a lens for (or in).
What was considered of equal importance was the focus "throw", or the amount the focus ring had to be turned from closest to infinity.
I have a Tamron A2 lens 24mm/f=2.4 which moves in the Pentax direction, with a short throw, and it will take a **non clamp-on lens hood on the focus ring, the clamp screw is long enough to make a handy focus lever.
Made a handy walk round lens when I could still walk.

Wey-Hay, I found my 70-210 f4 lurking in the bottom of the bag with my P50.
Thought "This is a bit of a lump".
Put it on the scale, converted to grams, came out at 725.86g - and that is with both caps, and a 58mm Hoya Skylight on.
Go plastic, rather than glass/metal and could be a nice basis for reworking. It even has a "macro" function - looks like about 1:1 at 15 inches, if you can call that macro!

And what about the A series 70-210 constant f4? I still have mine (somewhere). Last used on a Pentax Super A with MEII winder to take shots of the Red Arrows performing at the RMCS Graduation Day display (somewhen in the late '90s). Not too heavy as I recall - must look for it.

It got mislaid in a house move, and has just come to light,
I am asking £20 posted - but free to make an offer.
Collection from Bury is possible (and will attract a reduced price).

The thing that turned me off the GX10, was that the body is not the same as the K10 (the chassis probably is) and the K10 battery grips are not interchangeable (and of course I have a K10 grip lying around)
The menus are different too, so what about the firmware?
Back to my hunt for a K200D ...
