Rumoured 70-200mm f4
and even an f4 70-200mm will be a fairly hefty lump, so I would imagine a tripod foot will be on it.
Price wise, I would be surprised if it isn't around the Da* 300mm price point.
Its not something I've read, I haven't heard anything about it, other than it is in the pipeline, so these are just my musings on it.
I know what i like, If not always why.

The main thing would be the weight. And then again, neither the DA or FA versions of the 200/2.8 had a tripod mount.

No sign of a tripod mount, but the slower lenses didn't usually have one anyhow.
Tokina price: $899, Pentax price, your guess is as good as anyone else's! Weather sealing? If it has Pentax may use it as a justification to add a few more £££ to the list price.

And Jak, Pentax don’t just change the label and double the price, you really get what you pay for in extra performance and quality.
Given the Tokina version is only being released next Monday (12th Nov), it would be extremely surprising if the Pentax version had managed to come out before it.
John K
I'm doubtful what JAK says is wholly true: the lens he linked to started production in 2013 (and had a tripod mount as an optional accessory).
I'm sure a five-year-plus old optical design still holds up, but I'd expect Pentax to remove the stabilisation.
(And anyway, according to da internetz, Pentax supposedly copy Tamron designs).
Wasn't my rumour, it was the rumours site rumour! At the end of the day, who knows what can be believed, we'll just have to wait and see. Until its officially announced it can only be guesswork.
As to tripod mounts, Pentax release APS-C lenses to 300mm without one.
John K
Looking at the Tokina one (67mm filter thread), I would guess such a lens would be about the size of the 50-135 DA*. No real need for a tripod mount on that
.
With most of the bokeh and IQ characteristics of that DA* lens due to crop factor. They'll be onto a winner.

DA*60-250 f4 has one...
Could Pentax not re-engineer the internals of this lens, remove the baffle and update the focussing system to become a D-FA 60-250 f4? All K-mount fans would rejoice.

It's not just a question of removing the baffles. It is not a FF lens cut down to APS with baffles. It was designed as an APS lens. The basic formula might be usable but all the elements would have to be enlarged for FF coverage. It would make it much bigger and heavier. There is also the SDM issue.

As much as I loved my 60-250mm f/4 I recently sold it as it wasn't getting any use with the K-1 (however I have started looking for another)

Saying that the one thing a 70-200mm f/4 would hopefully have over the 60-250mm is internal zoom.
There is also the SDM issue.

What SDM issue?

The 60-250 has basically the same motor as the 16-50, 50-135 and the two long lenses. The only problem is that the screw drive conversion does not work on the 60-250.

Ricoh/Pentax have always denied the problem but I doubt they will make more using the same mech.
What SDM issue?
