Due to the motion a lot of successful panning shots only have a portion of the car in focus (like a race number on the door or the headlights) but you're right that the technique does need practice and can lead to a lot of shots headed for the recycle bin.
Two doesn't do much for me and three is very nicely framed but a little 'static'. With such bright light yesterday it was easy to freeze the motion, making the tricky bit catching the cars in a dynamic pose. If they were really 'giving it some' you could have got them dipping under braking, leaning at the apex of a corner or squatting on acceleration out of a tight bend etc... of course, this depends on course access and avaliable lens choice.

In #1 and it might just be my monitor but the person looking up at the exhibit is too dark.

Agree it was refreshing not to be questioned by the camera nazis. Left my dignity at the gate and had a play with a flash and a bit of jumping around:

Coming from a 6-7 year old machine as you are, even a Core i3 with lots of RAM will feel like a massive step forward. I've been testing a new 'Sandy Bridge' Core i3 laptop at work this week and that is a pleasure to edit photos on - shame it has to go out to a user soon

View over Port Hercule from up by the palace - on the larger version you can see resurfacing work and some of the pits/grandstands going up in preparation for events this weekend.

Now on the water in Port Hercule, with the first pano taken from high up on the very left. Note the weather closing in ominously...

A final pano of the iconic casino - at this point it had been raining a couple of hours, which gave the Mrs chance to 'shelter' in the shops

And there are more, just not online yet. One thing's for sure, with tens of thousands of fans and tens of thousands of horsepower packing the principality this weekend, I'll bet the old fella has a hard time doing this on Sunday afternoon....

Weatherproof cover is a bonus and it cost all of a tenner from the local LCE

Sadly I'd slumped into 'snapshot' mode and made a mess of my pictures there. This is one I thought had some potential thanks to the geometry, light and shadow and the people in frame, but I've never really got to playing around with it. Now here's your chance to prove me right!

Grab the 800px jpeg above, the full size JPEG or full fat PEF and let your processing juices flow.
Entries close Sunday 5th June at 1800 GMT. Have fun!

Now need to find something worthy/interesting enough (with a few rough edges) to put up - hopefully have a new challenge posted before the weekend is out.

I think it'd be unfair for me to offer much feedback as I'm no expert, but here goes: cross processing predates my photography so the colours frankly look a bit odd to me but the bold green stripe of the water does make you look closer at what the attraction is. I also think you've done a great job of straightening it up, cloning where necessary and extracting what detail there was.
It would have been silly of me not to try processing my own pic after all this time, so here's my effort:

As the winner it's certainly your turn to put up the next challenge. Before that, any feedback from the rest as to why the image didn't grab people enough to give it a whirl? Hopefully we can learn from this and not crash and burn again!
Well done pnjmcc.
