I was down by the river for 9 mins today on the way back from shopping, i had hoped to see a heron or some finches, but these fellas were swooping and splashing around. I don't know what they are called. I used manual focus as they were really speedy.

Thanks a lot folks for taking the time to comment. I'm usually stuck in my small village because of the fire brigade, so when I got a chance to get away for 2 hours, I jumped at it. There was no plan, I just spent an hour and a half wandering around while waiting for the comedy show to finish. I must say I rather enjoyed it, and where I used to be embarrassed about taking photos in public, I no longer am. Typical firefighter, show me a burning building and I'd be the first one in, ask me to be myself in public and I cringe inside.

Thanks David, I did that in pp, I felt they were leaning the other way because the ground slopes to the canal, will re edit
