Inspired by Kris this was taken this morning with a Pentax A 400mm f5.6. Pretty close to minimum focus distance and with a willing model....

Just tonight we (my wife and I and our three young children) were talking over dinner what our favourite birds where that we see in our garden. The robin was easily most popular. I'd be very happy with such a clear and detailed picture.

Close indeed, looks like you nearly knocked him off his perch! Nice colours and detail. I don't think I'd be game to try birds like that with manual focus .....
