Sorry - just seen the thread below on Chinon lenses which has helped a bit.

I've just posted a new thread above about this lens (Chinon f1.4)before I saw this thread, doh! An excellent lens in my opinion and you have answered my question about value!

I agree with the above, they and other older manual lenses have something special that are not easily measured in a lab.
Adrian - I wonder what it would be like on your "Q" at 585mm?

Like just about everyone on here I need to rationalise my lenses for space and future purchases. I have what I consider to be two beautiful lenses which now I tend to sit and hold rather than use. (Should I see someone about this?)I will keep one but not sure which.
The first is the 50mm SMC Pentax-A f1.7 which seems to have a value of about £40 in the mint condition it is in. The other is the rarer 50mm Auto Chinon f1.4 in a similar condition. The latter isn't an A lens. Any idea of the value of the Chinon?

I wouldn't mind one. I know it's an ok TC and I know it converts manual lenses to slow AF but £300............. No!
