These look great Dave, I'm very jealous! The DA*300mm is my 'most wanted' lens. I would rather have this than the Sigma 50-500mm I currently own, I just need to convince myself!

You should have done what I did David and jumped with Amazon. If I sell the 150-500, and I might based on what I have seen so far, it will almost pay for itself. Need to do a bit more testing first though.

I remember somebody posting they look forward to seeing pics from all these Amazon 300mm DA*s. Well mine arrived this week and I got an opportunity to use it in some half decent light at last. These pictures were taken with my autofocusing Kenko Teleplus 1.5x . I am very impressed and very little picture quality loss , just a bit slower and more hunting with the AF. Shot in raw with minor adjustments, about 40% crop and my downsizing package does sharpen slightly more than I would like.

It is a good review, in fact it seems better than those with a Gold Award from the "stills" point of view. It did seem to be almost begrudging in its high praise and seemed almost relieved that it could use the poor video to keep it from a Gold Award!

I'm pretty much of the same mind as Adrian. In fact I would go as far as to start criticising my own rationale as I get carried away with Q fever! So far I've only used the 01 prime and its £200 price tag I paid is justifiable on account of its image quality and smallness. The other reason I got it was for doing long telephoto shots on a compact size, cheaply, for holidays etc.. But I imagine that everything over a 100mm lens will mean it will lose its ease of use and portability. If I can get 500mm equiv hand held with that it would be ok. But to contemplate adding £200 ish for the adapter makes the cost well above a quality Panasonic Bridge camera that would probably give me easy and better pics at 600mm. So that just leaves the tricky set up with say a 300mm lens to do something perhaps cannot be done any other way. I'm beginning to think it is the fun of trying out all sorts of combinations that is the attraction rather than the logic behind it

Begs the question what was wrong with a good old fashioned green hexagon and a bleep!

Yes - I did that. I knew it was self-extracting but doesn't in the camera. You just click on the exe. file on the card which copies it to the card then it works.

I've only just spotted this upgrade which is brilliant because it's going to help me a lot with manual focus. I've never used or seen focus peaking before so just need to check it's working right. I see a lot of sparkling pixels all over the screen which seem to form highlighted lines around the edges of in focus areas. The sparkling dots are still in the background though which I couldn't see on a demo video. Culd this be because I have only tried it in relatively low light or is this normal?

I have the same 200mm Tak as David and although not the fastest it is a thing of beauty in my opinion. Lovely creamy BOKEH and small and great to handle and very sharp.

P.S I'm not a relative
