Point taken Mike but I don't think the topic excludes what we all recognise as street photography.

There are few rules in the weekly competitions but one is that entries should be taken on Pentax cameras or Samsung DSLRs. In my case the EXIF rarely gives accurate details of my equipment so I'll make it clear all my pix are taken on a K10 or ist DS. My only non-Pentax lens is a Sigma 10-20mm zoom.
I'd like to congratulate Pentaxian on choosing street photography for this week's subject. Its something many members on PU relate to.

They are cracking sports pictures. The fact the ball is included in shot lifts them to professional level.

Keem 'em both but my favourite is No.1 OK so you cropped the feet, now go thre whole hog, or cow, and crop in tight so you've got just the head. It would make a v.good animal portrait.

I wouldn't crop it any other way Peter. The frame needs space to emphasise the isolation of the angler. The rule of thirds in picture composition is only a guide, its not law. Rules are meant to be broken sometimes especially for dramatic effect.

I've been taking photos for many years but only came to digital work relatively recently, in the past three years or so. As a film photographer I learned quite a lot from working as a newspaper reporter alongside professional press photographers and equally from joining a camera club. Listening to visitng judges making their comments on photos, lecturers taking about their own work and visiting print exhibitions was also educational.
For a few years before I bought my first digital camera, an ist DS, my enthusiasm for the hobby had waned quite a lot. I wasn't getting a buzz out of taking film photos any more.
Digital has fired up my enthusiasm again and I'm shooting pictures at a higher rate now than I ever have. Being in a go ahead camera club - Durham Photographic Society has almost 100 members - certainly helps. Some of my mates there have excellent PS skills and when I have a question I have only to ask them to get an answer.
Being on the PU site is also very helpful. I just love the weekly competitions and reading the opinions of fellow Pentax users.
One thing's for sure, no matter how long you have been doing photography, you just go on learning all the time.

Sorry for coming back in late Paul but I've just seen your colour version. Thanks for posting it. Having seen both I prefer the black and white. If the containers had been bright jazzy colours it might have been a different result.

Is Pantex a sort of camera or a new kind of panty hose?

What's it look like in colour Paul with all those containers?

At last a sensible and intelligent thread. Thanks Barrie for kicking it off.
