I've taken loads of pictures at National Trust properties, outside in the grounds as they don't allow photography inside buildings. One or two of these images have appeared here in the Gallery and in weekly competitions. Are they now going to have me hauled off to the Tower of London for not asking the Trust's permission first?
This year I haven't renewed my National Trust membership - I've spent the money instead on joining the Royal Photographic Society.

In the absence of any further feedback in the weekly competition for culture I would like to pay tribute to two pictures which really impressed me with their sheer quality, Hyram's stained glass window in St Malo Cathedral and Dr Mhuni's illuminated Buddha. I thought both these were terrific photographs.

I think there have been a few pictures off topic in recent competitions but if the judge can see the point then its down to him or her to decide whether they are valid entries. A wide interpretation is to be encouraged as it leads to inventiveness but as Hyram says, this week's competition is about human suffering and its difficult to go too far off topic with that one.

Why not a picture of you after your wife reads this post?

The English-based Campaign for Real Ale has the acronym CAMRA, that's close enough for a photography forum isn't it?

I had an MX back in the 1980s and it was a lovely camera. I shot mainly slide film then and it did slightly under expose if you had too much sky area in the frame so tilting down slightly to take a reading before clicking is a good idea as Kris says. I found it was more prone to under expose with wide angle lenses than telephotos. Once you knew the camera's habits it wasn't a problem, you just did mental adjustments automatically.

The picture has lovely quality, you were fortunate to have great light. The background detail doesn't worry me too much, you could always darken it down so you just have black shapes behind the figures. I agree with Dr Mhuni about the crop on the building on the extreme left. Easy to slice a thin piece off.

I'm concerned that Mattox may not realise he's won the weekly competition. He hasn't logged on for almost a week now. Also I wonder if Szymon will be able to post commnents on all the pictures and name who got 2nd, 3rd and commended.
