All four are fine images David, so hardly surprising. Does this page on flikr help: https://www.flickr.com/photos/ironrodart/6144091654 ? It's about 'How to get explored!'
Hi John, thanks for the link, it all seems a bit confusing and random. One of the things I always do when posting on Flickr (or in the PU Gallery) is to add tags to my images. I wonder if this could be having an effect?

Anyway, regardless of whether 'Explore' has any merit or not, it's nice to see 10,000+ people looking at my images.

I was wondering about the 'Explore' feature on Flickr and how images get selected for it? I upload to Flickr very sparingly, in fact I have less than a hundred images in total on there.

I read somewhere that only approximately 1 in 17,000 images gets selected for 'Explore', however out of the last 11 images I have uploaded, 4 of them have been 'Explored'. That seems like a huge hit rate based on only 1 in 17,000 getting selected, I wonder if someone who's good at working out odds could calculate the likelyhood of that happening? I'm interested to know why I seem to have a knack of getting images Explored without having many followers and without uploading a large number of images. Any ideas anyone? The four images that have been Explored are:

Really, what's the point of all this negativity and complaining? The 150-450 works brilliantly on APS-C, so why shouldn't people go and buy it? Lots of the Pentax lenses will work on APS-C or Full Frame, it's clear that Pentax are lining up more for release to support the FF body and this is a must if they want to sell it in any numbers. It will take time for the releases to come out and as DrOrloff has said many people won't dive in and buy the lenses until the FF has been selling for a while.

It's all down to personal choice, as is the decision whether or not to buy a FF Nikon / Canon / Sony, there is no lack of equipment out there for potential FF users. Pentax are what they are, they will not change their approach in a hurry, we just decide to wait, or we decide to jump ship to another Brand.

For what it's worth, I view a lot of images produced on Nikon Full Frames from former Pentaxians and I don't see anything that makes me sit up in amazement or think 'wow I must have one of those'. I think Pentax have a lot of things right, in particular the colour balance IMO blows Nikon out of the water, much more natural results to my eye. I think the Pentax FF when it comes will be a magnificent beast, worth waiting for.

if you prasie a company for getting it wrong they keep getting it wrong pentax executive should not hide behind closed doors and let roumors float about
they should have the balls to stand up and say we have made a cockup and we are working to put it right and it is possboned till we have it sorted
customers would respect them more for that
it would make more sence to not say they are going to do somthing untill it is all ready to go then they can give a deffant release date

sorry but they need to grow balls and admit they have got it wrong even if it is a third party componant
sorry for any spelling mistakes
Hi Stu, I wasn't praising them for getting it wrong, I was saying I'm happy with the products they have now and that there's no point in moaning about the FF launch being delayed. I'm pretty sure similar things happen all the time with other companies and I would prefer them to get something right before release rather than launching something that's not fully ready.

I also appreciate a lot of people get frustrated by not having a Pentax FF, but this doesn't apply to me at present. I think it's healthy to have a debate about these things; it all seemed to be a bit one-sided, i.e. more negative than positive.

There's no use in anyone constantly complaining about Pentax delays / release dates etc. If anyone is unhappy, they can switch Brands if they wish. My take on it is that Pentax products always seem to be well constructed, well sorted and clearly well designed for the task in hand. I'm not convinced other Brands playing in the same arena (APS-C DSLR's) offer anything better, except possibly AF for moving subjects, which doesn't bother me as I rarely use it.

I appreciate the 'want / need' for full frame, but I doubt the real requirement for this with most amateur photographers, which I think most Pentaxians on this site are.

I'm happy for Ricoh Pentax to carry on as they are, in the knowlege they will probably not challenge Canon / Nikon in terms of volume sales, but will continue to produce high quality products which appeal to a certain type of photographer.

I have Cyberlink Photo Director but don't use it as I find it not as good as other similar editing software. Cyberlink's software in general is not the best and they are well known for producing 'bloatware'; programs that are unnecessarily large and hinder performance. Power Director (video editing software) is an example of this, there are many others too.

My best recommendation would be the same as others, get a different editing program, even if it means spending a bit as in the long run it will work better for you.

I think these are good Alistair, but the expired film hasn't done you any favours this time around as they have a magenta colour cast. I suppose it's a bit of a lottery as to whether you get an old film that retains its colours, or one that's gone off?

I've spent the last 3 days in the Lake District and describing the precipitation as mere 'rain' would not be adequate. It has pissed down, excuse my French, for most of the time. The Pentaxes performed superbly, I saw very few others out with DSLR cameras, probably because not many are WR.

The biggest problem I had was keeping water droplets off my ND Grad filter, which proved next to impossible.

Another vote for the DA*300 and TC. They live together in our house and are rarely separated.

Sometimes 420mm is too much though, in which case it's easy to whip the TC off and use the DA*300 naked, used alone it is stellar. I don't miss my Sigma 150-600 at all and cannot justify spending on the Pentax 150-450.
