I think it's about time we had a get together? Thought we could do a 'one lens challenge', i.e. pick a location, spend a day there but we're only allowed to use a single camera and a single lens. Also, it has to be a prime lens, not a zoom.

So, my suggestion for location is 'Sheffield', there are so many places to go in a day, we could do the City Centre, old industrial buildings, Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet and many more potential locations. It would have to be a Saturday or Sunday for me.

How about the weekend of 30/31 January?

Post on here if you are up for it and we'll make the arrangements.

Cheers
David

Superb, very striking and all the better for the monochrome treatment.

A strong start indeed!

If the K-3 is a bit cheaper than a K-5iis I would say that's great VFM. I prefer the K-3, although both are great cameras.

Funny, I was just thinking the exact same thoughts myself..............

In time, you will focus on specific forms and factors, and might even become as anally correct as our colleagues , but in the meantime keep using your eye and your heart to produce beautiful pictures of the world around you, and more importantly, how you SEE and FEEL it!. That's what all the greats have done so you could be the next one!!

It's a fine photograph, well captured, nice composition, lovely deep saturated colours, an easy tweak to make it level.

A lovely set, of very appealing subjects. I very rarely get to visit Edinburgh, but next time I do Rose Street will be on the list!

Great set again. 8 is a belter, it's difficult to pick a favourite from the others, but I rather like number 3.

Some interesting choices here, but one thing that strikes me is that primes are very popular! I expected this to be almost 100% zooms, but the DA 35 Limited seems to be universally loved and primes in general get a lot of votes.

Davidwozhere's 200mm F5.6 Takumar is an interesting one; I had a mint copy of the tele-takumar (front aperture) version, which was great, but I sold it due to lack of use. My second favourite after the M28 3.5 has to be the DA*300, along with its DA 1.4 TC counterpart. These lenses are not my most used (the zooms are), but they are my favourites as they always deliver great images.
