Anyone up for a 'One Lens Challenge'?

I think it's about time we had a get together? Thought we could do a 'one lens challenge', i.e. pick a location, spend a day there but we're only allowed to use a single camera and a single lens. Also, it has to be a prime lens, not a zoom.

So, my suggestion for location is 'Sheffield', there are so many places to go in a day, we could do the City Centre, old industrial buildings, Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet and many more potential locations. It would have to be a Saturday or Sunday for me.

How about the weekend of 30/31 January?

Post on here if you are up for it and we'll make the arrangements.

Just had a thought.........

We could all post our single best image from the day on a thread and get John Riley to judge a winner? Hope that's OK by you John?

I will put up a prize of a prime lens of some sort, I'll have a think but it may be something like a vintage Pentax K50 F1.8 or similar?

Sounds like a cracking idea, if arrangements fall on Sunday 7th then I'd every interested.

Sunday 7th February it is then!! Anyone who needs to borrow a lens, no problem, Andrew has already offered and I have some spares too.

OK everyone, so it is the 7th February in Sheffield for our 'Single Lens, Single Camera' challenge. It looks like we have a decent sized group so it should be a great day. I would suggest we meet in the City Centre at 10:00am, does everyone know where the stainless steel balls are outside the Winter Gardens?

We could go for a bacon buttie to start (suggestions for a decent cafe are welcomed), if anyone would prefer to meet at my house so I can give them a lift into town please let me know via a PM and I will give directions.

Also, is there anyone else out there who wants to come but hasn't replied to the thread? The more the merrier!

As suggested earlier, we will all need to select our single best image from the day and post it on a thread for John Riley to judge. The winner will receive my Pentax K55 F1.8 manual focus standard lens, a classic of its day and in excellent condition. Rules are one camera only, and one PRIME lens only (not a zoom), anything else goes!

Look forward to seeing you all there on the day, we will come up with some interesting challenges and locations for us to shoot!

AndrewA has suggested we meet at Sheffield Railway Station (great idea Drew), so that is where we will meet!

10:00am on Sunday 7th February, look forward to seeing everyone who will be coming. We have some locations in mind, we will let you know on the day where they are!
