I think the lens is very important. The lens is an integral part of constructing an image. For instance, if you are trying to get a dreamy look with limited depth of field and smooth out of focus areas you will not achieve this with the 18-55 kit lens, but you will with a Pentax-M 50mm F1.4 set wide. I always give careful thought to the lens I am using in terms of what I'm attempting to achieve and to visualise what the final result will look like. Only once I have this in my mind will I bring the camera to eye and start to compose the shot.

I suppose what I'm saying is a bit off-piste with regard to Exif Data, but then again not really because there have been numerous instances where I have not been able to remember the lens I used on a shot taken some time ago and this annoys me because I want to know how I achieved the final result.

David

Hi All

Sorry about the 'abstracts' description, but believe me for me these are abstract compared my normal output! I shall not disappoint as I will be posting a set later which are traditional landscape

A few may have seen that I've posted some pics on the Gallery this week from a visit to Ullswater last Saturday. Here are some more, this set leans more toward the abstract rather than traditional Lake District views. I'll post the more traditional ones in another set later. Hope you like, please comment and let me know what you think. The images are a mix of the K-3 and K-5iis, various lenses including DA L 55-300, Pentax-M 28mm F3.5, Sigma 17-70 F2.8-4 HSM OS and Samsung D-Xenon 12-24 (equivalent of Pentax DA 12-24).

I agree with SteveF, someone has to pay for the site and I like to think my small annual contribution may help.

Thanks for the info John. I should point out to potential buyers that the performance of this teleconverter coupled with the Da300, is not perfect. It can take several attempts for focus to lock. Reading discussions online, it is not just this copy, but across the board.
I'd expect that to happen with any teleconverter given the loss of light transmission.
It doesn't happen with the Pentax 1.4 TC, but as you pointed out, it doesn't cost the same. If it's anywhere near the performance of the Pentax one it's a steal at £100.

Lovely set of family images Nigel, you have done extremely well here, notably with the even and soft lighting. I particularly like the third BW one, being hyper-critical (which you know I usually am), it's a little bit tight on the framing, but I know how hard it is to take good portraits and these outshine anything I've ever done by a mile.
