That is probably the finest image I have ever seen, just magnificent and so well deserving of being chosen as the winner. Only one word is appropriate: WOW!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Cheers

Hi

Have you got any image samples of the 50-135? Just wondering if it's worth the upgrade...

Thanks
The DA* 50-135 is a stellar lens, possibly the best or one of the best Pentax zooms you can lay your hands on, I would snap Bruce's hand off for £380. What are you thinking of upgrading from?

I have lots of images shot with my DA*50-135, a few examples of different image genres below:

I've been to the Lake District today to indulge my passion, which is landscape photography. Got up before the larks, drove to Ullswater to get there for sunrise and spent most of the day in 4 locations, all close to Ullswater Lake. I will upload a couple of sets when I've had the opportunity to process some images, but I just had to show you this one. I was fortunate to be at Aira Force Waterfall (National Trust) when conditions were perfect and Mother Nature decided to treat us to a magical show of rainbows formed by the spray from the waterfall. This one is shot with a long lens to isolate one section and create an abstract image.

I really hope you like this as I think it's destined to be one of my personal favourites of all the images I've ever shot. Please be harsh though if you don't like it, I have thick skin.

Hi Egret

I agree with Mike and I have this combination. Please forgive me for missing focus on the Bird's Eye, but I think the image below demonstrates how good the DA*300 and 1.4 TC combination is.

A really well written and informative article Bill, your thoughts on shooting moving water are very similar to mine, but your talents for it are obviously much greater!

I was particularly interested to read your hints on using the 55-300mm lens for this type of work, which is something I wholeheartedly agree with. I've also used my 50-135 and 100WR macro for similar reasons, to isolate the parts of interest and exclude any distractions.

Great stuff, please keep posting your wonderful images and articles.

Highly successful I would say, it looks like a beautiful camera / lens combination. You have captured a wonderful, innocent portrait here, very natural and all the better for it.

These are excellent images, a great advert for both your skill and the quality of the equipment.

Mainly the Sigma 17-70 F2.8-4, although I must be honest and say I'm never 100% happy with the results from zoom lenses, with one notable exception, which is the Pentax DA 50-135. If it weren't for the less useful focal length of this lens for general walkabout photography, it would be my 'go to' lens and would never be off my camera.

If there is a better 'reasonably priced' zoom than the DA*50-135 I'm yet to find it!
