Just go out and take some photographs. Take your time to understand what you are seeing and how you want to record it. Before you do this make sure you know the basics of how to operate your camera to best effect.

When you do all of this your right brain will be free enough to do you justice as you won't be thinking too much about what you are doing; it will be automatic.

Alcohol is not the answer

I have used the Pentax Digital Camera Utility 4 over an extended period of time to do initial development of RAW images. Whilst it is very good for the lens corrections (chromatic aberrations, distortion etc.), I find that opening the RAW files in Photoshop Camera RAW, carrying out the initial RAW adjustments, then opening directly into Photoshop produces superior results.

I know that a lot of people don't have Photoshop, but if you do my recommendation would be to use this instead of PDCU4.

It can tow 1200kg, but it won't, the tow bar is for a bike carrier mostly, and maybe a small trailer to take stuff to the tip.
Not planning on sticking a six berth caravan behind it .
That's a relief! I think 1200kg would be a test for this car, even if the engine was up to it the car is not heavy enough.

BTW, I have a caravan and it's fantastic for getting out into the middle of nowhere at reasonable cost. Trips up to the Lakes for example, so message to Hardgravity - don't knock it!

What are you going to tow with the new car Gwyn? You'll have to be careful with that engine, it's a good 'un, but not ideal for towing....

Ditto Stuey, I think you are talking sense, although I don't know whether Pentax would revive old designs and if they did they would probaby charge an arm and a leg for them. If I ever get a FF Pentax I will revel in using my old manual focus lenses on it, as I suspect you would also!

The trick with filters is not to grip them hard when trying to remove them, as gripping them causes the threads to tighten. That's why MattMatic's rubber gloves are the best solution!

I've had many a stuck filter and rubber never fails!

Number 2 is clearly the 'stand-out' image in this set. They are all good, but the second one is head and shoulders above the others.

Great shots Mike, thanks for sharing them with us.

Beautifully photographed and processed, every one of them. It would be churlish of me to choose a favourite.

I'm still on a steep learning curve with regard to Lake District Landscapes and recently did a 4am start with Mr. Wilson (Puma) to do some Ullswater mist shots, some of which have appeared on here. Looking at yours Mark, I still have a little to learn!
