You can also get threaded metal bits that have a 3/8 thread at one end and a 1/4 at the other end. Redsnapper tripods hve a dual-sized thread like this.

Hi Simon, just had another look and a minor point but one that is simple to change, the font used on the website title page for 'LANDSCAPEPHOTOGRAPHYUK.COM' is different from the font on the remainder of the home page. It would look more consistent if the same font were used throughout, even if the font size is different, especially as the title is not separated very much from the main body of the homepage.

Hi Simon, I broadly agree with Dr. O's comments above. I do like the site, but the thing that strikes me more than the actual site design is the quality of the images.

I do think some elements of the design are a little clunky and maybe just a little old-fashioned looking, like for example the frames around the images and the way the thumbnails and next image button are presented.

Having said all that, it's streets ahead of my website (mainly the image quality I think) and should serve you well. I particularly like the section that covers your published work, but again this is more due to the content than the design, maybe this is just my personal preference.

Stick it on ebay with no reserve and take your chances. Put some high quality images of the lens on there (images of it are notably lacking in this post) and you will probably find it gets bid up to what you want to sell it for.

Google 'PDCU 4.40' or 'Pentax Digital Camera Utility 4.40' and you will readily locate a download source. Installation was painless for me and it updated my version 4.1 in no time at all. I don't see any difference between the new version and 4.10, presumably it just adds support for the K-30 and new K-5 variants.

I only use PDCU for browsing through my RAW images and identifying which ones to process. I find the lack of brush tools and other niceties very restrictive, so I go back to Photoshop all the time.

Hi Dave, firstly I would not recommmend that any 'free' or 'cheap' video editing software will give you the professional results you are looking for. Also, you will need a pretty powerful PC, otherwise the editing will become a very painful process. The issue with the K-5 is not the quality of footage (it is excellent), but the size of the files it produces (they are massive).

My son has done a fair amount of video work with a K-x - this is a great little video machine and although only 720p instead of full HD, the quality of images is very good and the file sizes are smaller. However, we've had to buy him a new powerful 64-bit PC and this is running Power Director 64-bit Ultra (a reasonably priced mid-range home video editor). The same software running on an Intel dual-core 3.3ghz 32 bit PC with 3GB of RAM was not up to the task.

Sorry if this sounds a bit 'down' but don't under estimate the processing power you need to edit good quality video files, especially if they are more than just a few minutes long.

David

You've got far too much Pentax stuff already Shaun!

As for me, I would love Santa to bring me a K-5 iis, but then I wake up

I will have to save up for that one myself, maybe sometime next year I will get one!

You can download colour profiles from some of the more reputable printing services (e.g. DS Colour Labs and some others). When you have processed your image in Photoshop or similar you can convert it to the profile provided by the printing service. You can even match it to specific print types, e.g Canvas. This should ensure that, as near as possible, the printed image is what you would expect it to be.

It would be useful for some of the other members to post their experiences of using the profiles provided by photo printing companies.

A good idea to have the converter permanently fitted Andrew, but given that there are decent converters available on ebay for £8 or so each, why not just remove the spring clip and fit one permanently to each M42 lens? This way they are as convenient to use as any bayonet mount lens on any body you own. I know they don't 'lock' when you do this, but mine fit tightly and there's no chance of the lens coming off with any of them.

The standout shot here is the fourth one Charlotte, it is beautiful. The exposures are not too long but just ong enought to get the effect that only long exposure photos can give.
