For £165, I would keep it! I have a K-5, a K-5IIs and a K-x. The K-x gets regularly used for macro work and for general walk-about use, whereas the IIs and the K-5 are used for weddings.

I am always impressed by the IQ from the lowly K-x and I wouldn't sell mine for £165 as I think I get more value from it by keeping it and using it.

I think in a roundabout way I am saying it's a bargain at £165 (which it is).

Cheers

Hi Andrew, there's no need to spend £500 to £700, my Sigma 150-500 cost £450 second hand and it is as good as new, having been used only a couple of times before I bought it on the Forum.

Also, if you don't spend this sort of money you will always be compromising - you could try a teleconverter on the 55-300 (which I did), but it's a compromise and I abandoned this approach as the image quality was poor. I'm very happy with the 150-500 and I think for £450 it was exceptional value for money.

I would look no further than a Sigma 150-500. It is a superb lens for birding, needs a fair bit of light and it's quite heavy, but image quality is excellent. The 55-300 is superb too, very sharp, but it's not long enough.

The images below were shot with the 150-500, through a double-glazed window.

I prefer the second ones of each image - more vibrant and leap off the screen.

Thanks for the comments all, I enjoyed my day out in Whitby taking these shots.

BTW, all are with the K-5iis, top two are the M28mm F3.5, bottom two are the DA L 55-300mm.

Best wishes

M28 F3.5 is a superstar of a lens - my favourite for landscapes.

It's definitely not a bluebell. Bluebells have bell shaped flowers, this looks more like a type of orchid

Does anyone know if the neoprene covers for the OS version of the Sigma 150-500 will fit the non-OS version of the lens?

No, these are not images of Goths and Steam Punks, just some shots I took in Whitby last week. CC Welcomed.
