People, glasshouses, stones. A sentence without a verb. Tut tut.

There's another sentence without a verb, in fact it doesn't even have any words.

These images are very good. Being honest, they are not my cup of tea as they are not natural looking enough (are they HDR?), but I can appreciate their quality.

Why is helping someone with their English 'petty'?
Quite simply because we are on a forum that is about photography, not the correct use of the English Language. Some people find it genuinely difficult to use written language correctly and I don't think we should be focussing on that at all. BTW, I'm not suggesting that Gareth finds it difficult, before anyone jumps on that bandwagon.

Some people will also find it offensive when they are picked up on minor grammatical errors and it may put them off posting on a forum like this, which would be a shame as their use of written English does not disqualify them from making valid and meaningful comments on images.

I agree with Gareth on these particular images. I don't think he was being anything other than constructive in his comments and I think John has quite rightly taken them in the spirit intended.

I also agree that to start picking Gareth up on his grammar is a bit petty and is wide of the mark when we should be discussing the images posted, which were posted for CC by the way.

Looks similar. the other posting by this person last year said an image was soft, this appears to be a troll.

I would say it's most definitely light leakage through the viewfinder Simon. I've had this before, but horizontally, not vertically.

You have posted no details about what equipment you used to take this shot, how much it's cropped or anything else. That is not an image taken with just a 100mm 1:1 macro lens, the magnification is too high.

Also, I think the crop on this is far more severe (and worse) than that on Mike's picture. I think you should come clean with us here and tell us what was used to shoot this image.

It looks fairly soft to me and I don't like the crop, I think there needs to be more room top and bottom.
I have to say that I think this comment is nonsensical! There is nothing 'soft' about this image and the crop is fine. It's a great shot and not easy to do, particularly with both tubes and a TC! I haven't tried this combination yet, may give it a go.

Well done Mike.

The 100mm macro lens at 1:1 without the tube or the 1.7x adapter would have produced an image much clearer and sharper , so really it's a bit of a pointless exercise .
I disagree with this one too. The 100mm macro lens on its own would not be capable of producing anything close to this image. Yes, it would be sharp, but the magnification wouldn't be there and after cropping sufficiently to get the same size image of the fly, the quality would be poor. I think you should try this yourself anniem and post us your images so we can see what you can do with just a 100mm macro lens!
