Been looking at the 150-500mm Sigma and it appears to scratch very easily.

Has anyone used this type of Neoprene cover ?

Lenscoat are the leading manufacturers of lens covers so their gear is good. I use the Chinese copies on all of my long lenses (not sure if the camo works or not as far as birds as concerned but it can't hinder and it certainly does a great job protecting the lens. I do feel it helps though, got to be better than a big black log being pointed in your direction) !

BTW as far as I am aware they are not made from neoprene but some type of cloth with elasticated bands to secure them (at least the Chinese ones are, at 3x the price I haven't bought a Lenscoat). Whatever they are made of they are better than nothing and have always worked well for me !

Does anyone know if the neoprene covers for the OS version of the Sigma 150-500 will fit the non-OS version of the lens?

There has been 2 types of coating on Sigma lenses, the old matt type finish and the newer smooth plastic finish. The matt had a real problem with scratching and peeling whereas the new finish is a lot better.

I bought a Canon 400mm f5.6 off Ebay a while back and it came with a Lenscoat, it does offer some protection but looks so naff it's untrue. I took it off in the end.
No equipment list here but thanks for taking an interest. My Flickr
