I don't think GPS will be on the menu. Faster processor, more pixels and maybe better AF, but the AF on the K-5II variants is pretty darned good, so that is not an area that needs much improvement, maybe a bit more speed and focus tracking ability.

Whatever it has, not everyone will be satisfied!

My gut feeling is that the next Pentax DSLR's will be superb, just like the K-5 was (and is). I really don't think the current K-5II and K-5IIs are much distant from a FF camera in performance and resolution terms, at least for any imaginable use that we would put them to.

However, regardless of how superb they are, they will not challenge Canon / Nikon for sales in the short to medium term. It would take a very sustained long-term effort, maybe 10 years plus, with a huge gearing up of the marketing / support infrastructure behind the brand to make big numbers of serious photographers consider switching. Personally, I don't care whether or not that day comes because I quite like Pentax as they are.

You can attach any extension tubes to your Sigma 105 lens, as I do with mine. The Sigma has its own aperture ring so there is no problem setting the aperture.

I wouldn't recommend cheapo ones from ebay though. Get some quality Vivitar or similar from an online retailer like Ffordes Photography - you will only pay £15 to £20 for a high quality used set that will last you forever.

I love using extension tubes with my Sigma 105 and also with a variety of 50mm lenses I have, the best of these is probably the Pentax-M 50mm F1.4 that is great for macro as it is very sharp.

I ditched my desktop for a top of the range Core I-7 laptop and one of my main considerations was that it must have a great screen. I went for an Asus N56VZ - absolutely superb screen, full HD and very accurate colour reproduction. It's transformed my photo processing speed and accuracy, it may not be an option for you but it might be worthy of consideration. The best bit is I can take it everywhere with me!

It's a manual focus lens isn't it? Not sure how it can be 'slow and noisy' in this case?

I think we should all aspire to know and learn our cameras enough to make it automatic - unconscious consciousness!

If we all got in our cars and had to think about what gear to use, which buttons to press etc. I think we would all end up crashing the car!

Yes, there's a level of planning required, but this is surely about making sure you have the right things in your camera bag, ready to pick it up and go at the drop of a hat.

Spontaneity is a definite plus in photography.
