K-3 ?

Just picked up a few comments speculating on a K-3.

Is it just speculation or an instuitive expectation?

Either way, if we were to see a K-3 launched what specification would we expect or hope for?

AFAIK, the 'K-3' is reference to a rumored optimistic FF model or 24mp High End APS-C model.
That's what I have picked up since getting into Pentax in the past few months.

Why can't people talk about possible future models of Pentax Cameras on a Pentax Forum?

We're about due for a new model. Probably within a couple of months I would wager.

They can. They have. Some are quite jaded with the thought.

However, some are new and want to explore it anew, so those who don't want to discuss don't have to, those who do feel free.

Maybe it's a willpower thing? - If the thread remains open they can't resist. Or they hate to see others indulging while they are on the wagon.

I fully expect new models yearly.Very happy to chat now its a bit cooler in my front room.

Whatever it is I'll wait a year and buy it at a sensible price if so motivated.

I expect a 24MP 35mm sensor with a crop mode for us (relatively)poorer chaps who have DA lenses.

It'll have a 1.4 mp gapless screen, two card slots, wi fi and several buttons in the wrong place to annoy some It'll have sensor based quick autofocus copied off the competition.

It'll be £1,400 body only with a free car sticker. There will be a couple of new WR lenses at at least £3,000 each that the usual reviewers will hate regardless of what we think.

It'll be available in very dark grey with very dark grey fake leather grips.

More seriously, it's a problem because Pentax keep putting out very attractive cameras and a K-3 would only add to my misery.

Already my shopping list is:

Q7
Q 15-45mm
DA 18-270mm
K-01 + 40mm
MX-1 in black

Adding more to that will put even more strain on my sense of restraint. A FF frame DSLR looks more likely than ever, but I have this nagging doubt because Pentax are very good at pulling something totally different out of the hat. It could just be something we haven't even thought of and it could be amazing.

John - going along with that "train of thought", imagine this "concept camera" having the 41Mp sensor that Nokia has in it's latest phone, Bill's suggestion of 2 card slots with WiFi, add in the GPS system that's in the WPS series, and a WR "superzoom" along the lines of perhaps a 12 - 400mm range with super-wide aperture?..

Was almost believable up until then

I have a Nokia 808 and use it to take loads of shots. while the 41mp sensor at it's high setting of 38MP ( 41MP is because the sensor is circular and allows two aspect ratios ) has incredible detail the dynamic range is poor compared to a K-5'esque DSLR Sensor.

I agree that the question has been asked before but it is still a valid question - sadly no one knows truly what will follow except Ricoh/Pentax themselves
