Nice images Shaun, I must get out with mine more.
For the price these go for they are a bargain.

I still have mine, a great lens as your shots demonstrate.

The wildlife shots are very good, but the closer ones of flowers not so much so. They look a bit unsharp to me.
The owl shot looks like the focus point is a bit too close, the eye is always the thing and the eye should sing out at us. It does with the snake!

On film this was a lens I never really liked much at all with a particularly horrid murky bokeh especially in black and white. I might give it another try on digital although the focus is very slow and noisy if I recall correctly

I found it great fun to shot on full manual focus it felt really good to do. I found that you have to think more carefully about the shot and waiting was played a big part in using this lens but worth it in the end.Nice images Shaun, I must get out with mine more.

I do know what your saying John 100% right but this was the first time I have used this lens and the owl was going some speed and about 40 feet away. see I cropped it a bit to see how sharp this lens is as for the bee on the flower I was focusing on the bee not the flower but again I do know what you mean. but saying all that i have some real fun with it

It's a manual focus lens isn't it? Not sure how it can be 'slow and noisy' in this case?although the focus is very slow and noisy if I recall correctly

You're quite right, but the title doesn't specify which version of the 70-210

It dose say that its an A lens just above the first photo Ken.You're quite right, but the title doesn't specify which version of the 70-210
This is the lens that came out top in the Ameture Photographer lens test at the time.
