I think #4 is very good and I like the compositions in #1, #2 and #6. I think I know what Karl is referring to; the style of these is very individual and I would process them differently, but if we were all the same it would be boring.

They look pretty good to me too! Favourite is #9, least favourite are #4 and #8. The lion image is a bit back-focussed and on the carnation it is all a bit too soft, but I like all of the other shots.

Well done for taking and posting these, I hope my criticism is constructive rather than harsh!

Dare I say it, you could have bought a Pentax MX-1, or even a Ricoh GR, then you wouldn't have to worry about posting information about it!

Thanks for all the contributions on this image - it seems to have stirred up some debate! The cargo ship is definitely not sitting level in the water and I suspect this is the main reason the image may appear to be slightly off-level. As mentioned earlier, I have carefully checked in Adobe Camera RAW at full resolution and the waterline is clearly visible at the extreme left and right edges; this has been measured with the 'Straighten' tool and it is absolutely spot on level.

Similar to Dr Orloff, I am very fastidious about making sure images are level and I check every single one that has an obvious point of reference, as this one does. Dr. O has astutely pointed out that the image in this thread is too small to clearly see and therefore it may appear to be slightly off.

hmm... I originally just scrolled up to check it against the top of the window; both the waterline and deck of the boat are leaning to the right
Hi Mark, are you really sure? I've done the same and it is spot on level on my monitor, absolutely no leaning at all. I've also checked it on a different monitor and it's level again. I've re-loaded it into Photoshop and checked it in there with the 'crop' tool as a guide and again it is level. I've loaded it into Adobe Camera RAW and checked it with the 'Straighten' tool and again it is level. I'm 100% sure after carrying out all of these checks that it must either be an optical illusion, or something amiss on your PC?

I don't mind anyone pointing out things like this, it's great to have CC, but I have to disagree on this one I'm afraid! What may be providing an illusion is that the cargo ship is lower in the water at the stern than it is at the bow and also there is more light falling on the sea at the right than there is at the left. When looking at the image in full resolution in ACR, I can clearly see the exact horizontal point where the sea meets the land at each side. Placing the straighten tool exactly at the left and right on the pixel where the sea meets the land, no straightening occurs.

Thanks again for your comments
