Lovely image, well done... am I allowed to suggest it's wonky?
Hi Mark

You can suggest it's wonky by all means , however if you measure it you will find it is absolutely dead level. I have checked and re-checked this and there is not even 1 degree of deviation on this image. Best way to check is to minimise the window that contains the image, make sure the waterline is visible, then move the minimised window on your computer screen until the waterline is at the bottom of your screen. This will confirm it is not out of level!

Thanks very much for your comment, it's much appreciated.

David

Hello everyone, this is the second last reminder for a great day out for any lovers of live music and dance on Saturday 21st September! Mark this date in your diaries and don't forget!

Visit the T-fest website link to buy your tickets; only £15 per adult for a full day's entertainment! Live music, live dance and much more across 11 venues in the quaint and historic South Yorkshire village of Tickhill, with around 80 acts already booked. It's all in aid of supporting local people, local businesses and the community in general so it is a good cause.

Pentaxians, their cameras and their families are welcomed - come and join the party with myself, Shaun Wilson, AndrewA, Carl (fritzthedog) and hopefully many more. As mentioned above, I'm doing some of the photography for the event and any assistance from our talented fellow members would be appreciated, in a casual or official capacity!

If anyone wants more information please pm me, or alternatively visit the t-fest website via the link above.

Sincere thanks in advance of your support.

Best wishes
David

Quick update: the K-01 will only record in MPEG-4 H.264 file format; it isn't possible to record in AVI.

It makes a really interesting image Dave, well thought out and executed, apart from the frame distortion!

Thanks for the update Paul. I would guess the K-01 is best used for video with SR turned off and on a decent tripod or rig. I'll check out the file format options available.

Great timing on that second image Neil, I didn't get any like this! Hope you don't mind, here is one of mine from yesterday; I tried to do something a little different by focussing in on tight details:

Hi Paul, very interested in your post as my 18 year old son is into film making using Pentax gear. We wanted to have a look at your video clip but it's listed as 'Private' and won't let us play it on youtube, even after logging in. Could you please let us know how to get the clip to play?

Also, we would be interested to hear your views on how the video on the K-01 compares to that on the K-5. We noted your point on the stabilisation issues on the K-01 above, but how do you rate the relative video quality of the 2 machines notwithstanding this?

David

these two cameras (K20D & K7) have been referred here as having the same sensor. I wonder is that really true? I only know the K7 personally, but I was thinking about some details covered in my guidebook to the K7, 'Magic Lantern Guide' written by Peter Burian. Here he talks about the advances over the 'previous model', and refers to the 'Prime 11 Image Processor' and '4-colour Processing' as being newly significant
The 'Prime 11 image processor' and '4-colour processing' are nothing to do with the sensor. They are to do with what the camera does to process images captured by the sensor. Umpteen different cameras can have the same sensor, but could all have different processing engines. It's a bit like different computers having the same hard drives and different CPU's!

Sorry to say it, but I tend to agree with Mr. B's quote regarding this particular thread:

I can't understand why I keep following this thread when I don't have to read it!

It seems to me that both the original post and the direction it has taken are (to quote Edmund Blackadder) "like a broken pencil - - - - pointless"
Like Phillip I can't resist reading it, but when I have read it I come away wondering why I bothered!

Very nice images, I don't usually go for cars, but these are good.
