Thanks for the considered response Mike, very useful information. I'll have to think long and hard about whether or not I should sell the Siggy, I'm reluctant to do so because I do like it.

I'm thinking about this TC after having just bought a DA*300. However, after using the DA* for just a few days on the K-3, I'm wondering what gains the TC would bring? The sharpness and focus accuracy of the DA*300 on my K-3 is nothing short of staggering to me - I don't know if I've been lucky to drop on a particularly good copy, but I can take a shot of a Robin at 40 feet away, crop it and still see feather details! I'm not sure if any loss of IQ with the TC (however slight) would be a worse compromise than cropping the image, particularly taking into account the reduction in light transmission, less reliable AF etc. that the TC would bring.

One consideration is whether I can do without my 150-500, which although excellent, cannot compete with the DA*300 for IQ. The Siggy at around 470mm is sharp, but the 300 beats it when cropping to the same magnification.

I know a lot's been said already, but I'd be interested in views on whether the DA*300 plus TC produces better IQ than DA*300 alone and cropping, bearing in mind it will be used primarily on the K-3.

Quite amazing! Not something I will ever venture into though, I try and get some decent shots of things that are alive, but unfortunately they move rather quickly!

The sheer skill and patience involved in making images like this one deserves a huge amount of applause.

Cheers Neil, been to Potteric Carr today, very little happening there, hence the Pheasant shots!

Hope you got some pics of the Peregrine and Marsh Harrier?

I've had my DA*300 for a few days now and I've already fallen head over heels in love with it (apologies to my wife Nicky)!

Here is a set of a few images taken with it, all are with the K-3 as it has been glued onto this body since I got it. I seems to just gel with my K-3 and hasn't missed a beat, focussing is spot on and pretty quick.

Hope you like, please comment if like or don't like.

Apologies for the last one, I don't like images of birds on feeders and usually avoid taking them, but I have an excuse as I was testing the lens!

Best Wishes

Thanks for the input guys, I will look into some of the tools mentioned above.

Just to be clear, the only problem IO have is Adobe Bridge, CS3 works perfectly with the K-3 DNG's, including Adobe Camera Raw. It's a minor issue really and doesn't stop me from doing anything.

Thanks for the update Dave, I have since made a little progress, but not with Adobe Bridge. I've downloaded and installed a DNG codec as mentioned earlier in the thread and can now see DNG thumbnails in all Windows applications, but still no luck in Bridge. However, the odd thing is that the K-3 thumbnails render in other applications with a strange greenish-blue tinge to them and the exposure looks very dark. Once loaded into Adobe Camera RAW and then into Photoshop, the Thumbnails for the original DNG's display normally - i.e. no colour cast and no exposure issues!

Very odd.

I can't offer any explanation for this I'm afraid, had my K-3 since last November and nothing like this has happened. In fact, the camera has performed flawlessly so far.

In what way are you having trouble Richard? A bit more info would help us to give you some useful advice.
