Here I am, back again. And this time I've got some good news. I've now ordered my K-x, and it's on it's way. It's just the 18-55mm kit, but it's a start for my first DSLR.
I can't wait for it, and I can't wait to post my first pictures here!

When I finally get myself a decent camera I'll be taking wildlife photos. One of the things I love is seeing other people's pictures, so thanks for sharing them. I'm sure you'll get some closer ones some time.
I thought I'd just add that we get those spotted woodpeckers in our garden, so I just need the decent camera now.
