Guess who's got two thumbs and a brand new K-x DSLR camera.....me !!!*pointing to self with said thumbs!!*

Brand new to DSLR....only experience is with point and shoot digital cameras for the ubiquitous shots of the young 'uns while they were growing up.

So many new things to learn....

Best wishes to all,
Neil

Lucky sod.

Will be going that way myself, when I have the funds available. Hopefully it won't be that long.

Let us know how you are going on, and post some piccies here!

Cheers,

ds

Thanks for the warm welcome !! Once I've finished reading "DSLR for Dummies" (certainly pitched at my level ) I'll give it a proper whirl...without the camera set to auto !!

Set it to Av (Aperture Priority), and use the e-dial to determine the aperture size you want. Dial in -0.5 EV as well, as that helps to safeguard against the K-x tendency to blow out highlights. If you shoot in RAW, that will give you a little more latitude to fix up exposure that wasn't quite right.

Above all - read the manual!
