I do occasionally, a similar question was posted here, and my answer was as applicable then as it is now. I would think the 35mm would be great for panoramics.

Hi Tim

Sorry I missed you're arrival, but 'hello' to a fellow Essex lad.

I could spend hours on this site, where the original illusion came from.

Found this through Twitter, and it's a very good demo of why you should never trust your eyes!

Reminded me of things mentioned in Galen Rowell's book 'Inner Game of Outdoor Photography', where he writes about Edwin Land's experiments and demonstrations regarding the way we percieve colour. Very good book if you can find it, worth getting from the library.

Same effect is shown on this pic, notice that the lighting is very similar: backlit in sunlight.

I'd say it was due to the white chest reflecting the blue sky, and your white balance being set on either auto or sunny. The shot over all looks a little cool, but changing the white balance to shade would probably make the rock and sunlit areas of the birds too warm looking.

The underside of the bird looks whiter because the warm coloured rock is bouncing light back up, but the blue areas are only recieving light from the blue sky.

So nothing to do with the polariser, I'd say.

Thanks to Aiki and Prieni (and Flat4 ) for pointing out that the closing date should obviously be 8th July.

It was late...

Edited for all manner of things!

No toes trodden on - it was late and I forgot to do a comments thread too.

I thought I'd give you all a challenge - trying to get 'Sun' pictures under thunderstorms etc. Still, every cloud has a silver lining...
