Didn't see a comments thread for this one, so I thought I'd start one. Hope I haven't trod on anyones' toes.

Just like to say, "Thanks Daniel". Just as the weather got nice, we are now guaranteed not to see a blue sky, or the sun for the next two weeks.
Getting there! Thanks to you guys

Pentax K3ii, Pentax K10d, Kit lens ( 18-55mm ), 50mm f1.7 lens, Tamron 70-300mm lens, Prinzflex 70-162 manual lens, Various old flashes.

No toes trodden on - it was late and I forgot to do a comments thread too.

I thought I'd give you all a challenge - trying to get 'Sun' pictures under thunderstorms etc. Still, every cloud has a silver lining...

At least I know who to blame - dry for weeks and now when I am sailing tomorrow, the forecast is for heavy thunderstorms

Here's my take on the same sun a few minutes later outside my office in Devon.

"Snootchiepoop!"

You're image is pretty flaming good DarkMunk!

I've been biding my time for a while in terms of one of the competitions. Thought it was about time I entered one.

Bob's post of his take on "The Sun" is fantastic - very well lit, original and amusing. I love it.

I think we should have done something about him leaving Pentax. It's sad to see him go. I hope that one day he'll be back with us.

Wouldn't it be great if he would win this one, would keep him around for at least another fortnight. And his shot has all it takes to win, it's creative and it's carried out masterly.
How much will he spend to be able to do the same with a Nikon, I wonder...

Bob, we will miss you!

Thanks for the comments guys. It's the judges decision that counts though !

I'll quite often have a decent idea but the execution often lets me down so I'm pleased to be told that it's executed well, especially as this was my first attempt at using multiple flashes manually & exposing manually. I feel the lighting is a little harsh which I have reduced the effect of somewhat in PP.

Shall I PM you my address so you can organise the whip-round to buy me a K-7 & full set of limiteds ?

Oh & for anyone wondering about the cowboy hat... It has been sat on my wardrobe since buying it on a Floridian holiday but I needed something to reduce the glare from my shiny balding head as it was sunburnt from some roof-down motoring, I actually thinks it adds another dimension to an already oddball capture.

Of course we would do that, but you stated that you were after a full frame, so the K-7 wouldn't do...

The lighting is great, I think, and very well suiting the image.

Here's a silly thing. I spent a bit of time at the weekend taking a picture for this competition, and have just uploaded it to flickr so I could enter it. Then it dawned on me I'll be on holiday when judging is next required, if I fluked a win in this one, so I can't enter.

I wish I'd thought of that earlier . Oh well .

Enter it anyway! Should you win, responsibility drops to 2nd place. Don't let your efforts go to waste!

I agree enter it anyway and you can ruin someone's day just as they are congratulating themselves on being second!

It would be useful to enter for the feedback - see if Daniel sees the same things wrong with it as I do. So I might enter it. However, it's still a bit cheeky, isn't it? "I've won, how lovely, now I'm off on holiday, bye!" .

I'll decide later today, so there's time for people to object rather than encourage me to enter. Having seen the high standard (as ever) of the other entries, this is probably getting very hypothetical anyway...

Robert.
