It does, doesn't it? Always slower to upload than download too - hope you're not on dial-up!

Doesn't look as though Clikpic will let you. I use my own webspace, so I've never had to look for another way.

I'm sure someone will be along in a moment with an idea. In the meantime I'll have a think...

You're not going to get any proper comparisons done with images at this size unfortunately, so I think you'll have to investigate ways of getting full res images uploaded.

All I can say is that lens 2 appears to expose slightly brighter than lens 1.

Thanks for giving it a go Ali, same percentage my wife got, and she's seen several of the shots before!

I've added a blog post with a short quiz on it, asking whether you can tell if a photo is displayed in it's original orientation, or if it's been flipped back to front.

If you can add your score to the comments on the blog post, that would be great.

And of course feel free to discuss it here, as long as no-one gives away the answers.

Blog Post here.

Have fun!

Took me a while to get my head round what was a reflection and what wasn't, especially the grafitti - seemed too bright for a reflection, but not the sort of thing to have in a shop.

I like the elements in it, especially the cage, bars and picture, but two things about the composition jar with me a bit. One is the lean, it may have been intentional but I think I'd prefer it straight. The second is that bright cloud top left, shame it wasn't grey like the other one. Cropping it out improves this aspect for me, but then you lose the effect of the reflections.

Like all your photos though (well, the ones you show us anyway ), it's a good scene, well seen.

It is nice that you want to explore the old ways but that has nothing to do with being a true photographer...with digital even if you take a bad photo you can reduce noise, recompose, crop, adjust exposure, change colour, add bits in, take bits out, etc. you can't do that with film
Hmmmm. I think I know what you meant Jack, but I just found that funny.

I don't suppose the article would hold much interest for me either, but if it did there wouldn't be anywhere else to read it, the PU mag is really the only place it's going to get published, and I'm sure at least a significant minority will be interested, if not more. I'm sure there will be plenty of features about 'new stuff' in the mag too.

Asking John to write about the future is a little beyond even Mr. Riley I suspect.

A snippet from here:
Quote:
The PENTAX U.K. Service Centre is unrivalled in terms of experience, expertise, technical facilities and fast turnaround times. Highly skilled factory-trained technicians using state of the art equipment and genuine PENTAX parts will restore your camera to its original specification. Repairs are fully guaranteed for six months.

Our current average turnaround time is approximately 5 working days from date of receipt of equipment.
So if the average is 5 days, does that mean some people get their gear back before they've even sent it off?

Hope Romania's treating you well Kris, and that the lens returns one day...

Well, I suppose now would be a good time to reveal which is the original image, and which is reversed...

I'd be willing to bet that number 1 is the original and number 2 is the reversed version. I believe that some people can just tell whether a photo is original or reversed (or reflected - however you want to put it). Maybe we should have a series of different images and get people to guess which ones are original and which are reflected?

Now that I've babbled on like an idiot I'm sure Dan will prove me wrong!
Sorry, couldn't resist quoting you there Fiona!

The original is No. 2 (as seen countless times on my website, if you need proof I'm not lying ).

Number 1 for me, same reason that others have mentioned about scanning from left to right.

Although we might be, in the main, reading from left to right, some of us like to see the main subject first, then explore the rest of the image, whilst some of us like to build up to seeing the main subject. Careful investigation of my original post will tell you which of these two camps I fall into.
I gave Image 1 the file name R2L.jpg, as to me, this one requires you to look at the main subject (the tree), then scan along the background and perhaps return to the tree, so that would be reading the photo right to left.

What I've found most odd about this exercise is that many people (over 2/3 of them if the poll results are representative) will look at a fairly non-descript background before a crisp subject, purely so that they're reading the image from left to right. My eye nearly always gets drawn to a prominent subject first.

I much prefer the look of Image 2, as I say most probably because that's the way I've always known it. However, when I posted the two images, I was expecting most people to agree with me, because they'd be moving their eye from left to right - prominent subject first, then along the background.

Oh well, something new to mention during my workshops...
