A Storefront View

I've passed this storefront many many times in the eastend of London, and have always had my eye on it for a picture. Today (21/08/09), the graffiti art had changed to this, and I feel works well with all the other elements in the scene.

This photograph brought to my mind one of George Bernard Shaw's quotes: "Home life is no more natural to us than a cage is natural to a bird".

Took me a while to get my head round what was a reflection and what wasn't, especially the grafitti - seemed too bright for a reflection, but not the sort of thing to have in a shop.

I like the elements in it, especially the cage, bars and picture, but two things about the composition jar with me a bit. One is the lean, it may have been intentional but I think I'd prefer it straight. The second is that bright cloud top left, shame it wasn't grey like the other one. Cropping it out improves this aspect for me, but then you lose the effect of the reflections.

Like all your photos though (well, the ones you show us anyway ), it's a good scene, well seen.

Thanks Dan, the canted angle was intentional.
I find it gives a little bit of dynamism to what otherwise would be a static and rigid shot. I like to do this in my street photos, a'la Garry Winogrand.

Nice! I too would have been tempted to go for more rigid verticals, even going as far as correcting perspective... and I might have included less of the storefront. That's just my style though, I can appreciate yours too.

I like the chairs "in the road" and the graffiti as "wall art".
Colors are nice too.

This reflection is quit a picture...Ive found angles on windows challageing...
