I'd definitely agree that an overcast day is better for woodland, but I'd exclude the sky completely, otherwise it would just burn out.

Like this one.

I'd definitely be interested in this Kris, assuming I was free on the day. Having said that, free weekends are in horribly short supply for me at the moment...

Am I in the minority in prefering the first one then? I like the subtle colours, and the mountains look much nicer to me in that one.

The tighter framing works better for me too.

I wasn't aware of SteamPunk as such, just thought they looked a bit 'League of Extraordinary Gentlemen'. Just had a google for steampunk images and there are some amazing things been made. Especially like this.

I'm sure he said the sensor (from Kodak) was mounted on the metal plate and associated circuit board by Jenoptic. Hang on, I'll check...

Yes, at 3:20. Also sounds like Jenoptic at least have a hand in the control board too, as the sensor board is paired to that.

At the start of the video too, he says that the partially completed camera comes to them from Portugal. I'm guessing Leica have an assembly plant there, or it that done by a third party too?

If you wonder why the M9 or any Leica has to be so expensive ......have a look at this and 18 minutes later you know the answer.
Am I the only one that watched that and thought "assembled by Jenoptic?!? I used to have one of their dodgy film scanners!"

Also, I thought Leicas were supposed to have almost silent shutters? I'm sure the K-7 is quieter than that.

Still, I'd love something like this alongside my DSLR, but certainly not to replace it.

I was a responsible 'user', making sure I did my shots outside where I could breathe!

Surely we've seen this (very nice) shot before?

Just bear in mind that this is a fairly basic method of sharpening, but it's as effective as I want it to be. You need to have a play with different values in the Amount, Radius and Threshold parameters to get the look that suits you, especially on the last sharpen, as this can be all too easy to over-sharpen.

There are various websites with plenty of more in-depth methods of sharpening, but this is, I think, a decent basic option.
