Given the price of the M9, I wonder where they get the money
Perhaps it's all the FSTE100 directors that made the news this morning...

It seems that those who have money have just as much as they ever did and spend accordingly. The gap between those with money and employment and those who do not seems to widen dramatically and worryingly.

I could sell 50 tomorrow - in his dreams maybe.

If I had the money I'd look at it long and hard. But I don't.

I did read the DPReview tour of Leica and the M9 hands-on. I'm surprised that people are just ditching their DSLRs. After all the M8/M9 are rangefinder cameras with manual focus! I understand that it's probably a doddle to focus when you get the hang of it - but I can imagine some niggles as they cross over from fully autofocus with 5 million AF points (ok I exaggerated! )...

Matt

all the af points in the world won't amount to a better photo, when most photos taken with a canon are of the canon owners shoes as they accidentally shoot themselves in the foot, while scrolling through countless menus trying to activate some obscure "feature"....

Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Rangefinders have their place and their own particular advantages, but they were replaced by SLRs in the late 1950s/early 1960s because the SLR addressed all their disadvantages.

There is still a small but deicated user base.

The M9 is just a rich mans toy. Personally I'm waiting for Pentax to produce a retro camera for the masses. The Digital Spotmatic.

The wife of the Nikon owner that was glad of the extra room in the house?

1) I'm surprised that she was with her husband at the shop.
2) Do they live in a warren?

All of this from a Leica dealer.....

If anyones interested, Yacouby stores in Bahrain has lot's of Leica camera's on the shelves, film and digital, cheaper than Europe! The money in the Gulf is not interested in them.

So a few Pro's have jumped ship. Bring out the lemmings....

Rant, rave, etc. etc.

p.s. Oh crumbs! Just had a thought, I don't own a Leica! Better get on the phone to Yacouby's!!

Typically 15%, more when they have a Sale. Next week will be Sale time as Ramadan finishes and it will be Eid.

Pentax already produce a digital Spotmatic, the latest version's called K-7

Trace the history back and you can see the family grow from as far back as the S1 (maybe even further back as well!)

Each new model has the best of its predecessor and new innovations incorporated.

As for the Lieca, somebody wake the dealer up!
Cheers, HG
