Well, I'm a bit odd, because I use a grip, but only have a battery in the body, because it didn't feel balanced to have the battery in the grip instead/as well. So I have an extra memory card in the space for the battery in my K10D grip. Would the remote sit in that space instead in the K-7 grip?

Although I rarely do portraits, I was very surprised the other week, when updating my website and looking for landscape format images, that the large majority of my photos are portrait format. Probably about 75% of them. So the grip makes that more comfortable, but just makes the camera feel much better for me.

But each to their own.

P.S. Mike, I don't know which you should do, but I've used my 50mm 1.4 in the rain before and it was fine.

You lucky wotsit! Love that whole area, but often stay further east, near Welshpool.

Welcome to the forum.

Glad to be of use.

Whenever I want as fast a shutter speed that I can get, I still use Av mode, and open the lens up to its widest aperture, and adjust the ISO if I want faster. It's very rare that I'd use Tv, and only then when I wanted a specific shutter speed in order to give a particular amount of blur on a moving object, but each to their own.

Regarding Macs you know you are facing a losing argument, so why even argue? There are probably less than a couple dozen instances of malware for OS X, and perhaps a few hundred for OS 9 and earlier. Compare that to, oh I dunno, a hundred thousand pieces of malware for Windows.
But it only takes one virus to cause a lot of hassle. The difference is that a sensible PC user will have anti-virus software installed, whereas most Mac users seem very cavalier about the need for any at all.

I've used a PC for about 10 years now, and never had a virus affect my computer. That's because I make sure I have anti-virus software installed. I'd do the same if I were using a Mac.

Well done Chris, great news. Can I give you a list of dates that I'm free, so that you can plan the grand opening around me? Don't want to miss it.

does anyone know how to reset all the setup menu options to the factory default. I have changesd some of the settings and can not now get fast shutter times in TV mode.

Is there a master reset, or a web link where i can find the default values.

ashamed but in need of help, too many blurry sports pictures.

I can't imagine what settings you could have changed that would limit the range of shutter speeds. Do you have the flash up or flashgun on? What's the fastest shutter speed you can now obtain?

Ah, just seen that it might be 'Auto EV compensation' (at least that's what it's called in my K10D menu), which will be in the custom settings menu, second page down for me. Just tried it - that will do what you're experiencing.

However, what it does is ensure that you get correctly exposed shots, rather than underexposed ones if you set the shutter speed to high. So with it switched off, you'll be able to get faster shutter speeds, but without using a wider aperture lens, or a higher ISO, you'll get underexposure.

Hope that makes sense and helps.
