does anyone know how to reset all the setup menu options to the factory default. I have changesd some of the settings and can not now get fast shutter times in TV mode.
Is there a master reset, or a web link where i can find the default values.
ashamed but in need of help, too many blurry sports pictures.

I can't imagine what settings you could have changed that would limit the range of shutter speeds. Do you have the flash up or flashgun on? What's the fastest shutter speed you can now obtain?does anyone know how to reset all the setup menu options to the factory default. I have changesd some of the settings and can not now get fast shutter times in TV mode.

Ah, just seen that it might be 'Auto EV compensation' (at least that's what it's called in my K10D menu), which will be in the custom settings menu, second page down for me. Just tried it - that will do what you're experiencing.
However, what it does is ensure that you get correctly exposed shots, rather than underexposed ones if you set the shutter speed to high. So with it switched off, you'll be able to get faster shutter speeds, but without using a wider aperture lens, or a higher ISO, you'll get underexposure.
Hope that makes sense and helps.

i take pictures of my kids competing at swiming galas. TYou are in the stand, you cant use flash, they swim past pritty fast and dont breath much. Therefore your best chance of a decent action shot is in TV mode with a fast shutter speed. By doing this you can freeze the action, and get a nice shot. You can always lighten the exposure up later in elements.
Thanks again i thought i had a duff camera where the exposure system had broken.
cheers

Glad to be of use.
Whenever I want as fast a shutter speed that I can get, I still use Av mode, and open the lens up to its widest aperture, and adjust the ISO if I want faster. It's very rare that I'd use Tv, and only then when I wanted a specific shutter speed in order to give a particular amount of blur on a moving object, but each to their own.
