Bembridge, Seaview, Newtown Creek, Yarmouth, Needles Battery as a starting point - all best seen by boat apart from the Needles Battery

You will enjoy the Isle of Wight, we loved it when we went a few years ago.

There are some lovely walks in West Wight. Up over Tennyson Down for instance, or above the Needles, near Totland. The villages are nice too.

There are dinosaur footprints along the south coast and the chance to find your own fossils.

We quite liked Cowes too, and there are usually some great yachts there to photograph.

There is a prehistoric Longstone near Mottistone, and a couple of Roman villas on the island too.

We didn't visit Osborne House but it is supposed to be lovely.

You MUST visit Dimbola lodge in Freshwater. A walk to the top of Tennyson Down will give some spectacular views along the coast back toward Compton and Brook. Yarmouth castle is also worth a look. Take the bus tour to the needles that way you wont have to pay the £4 to park and you get dropped off at the old battery. The ticket lasts for 24hrs and is well worth the money. Explore some of the chines too, micro habitats that support wildlife not found in other places.
Two weeks is not enough, oh and another place worth a visit is Ventnor botanical gardens, take the path down to steephill cove for a top Crab sandwich and some great photo opportunities.

Depends on your interest. Is it coast or landscape, or the usual tourist spots? If you want memory snaps, then you have been given plenty of tips. If you have a special interest in history, then Carisbrooke Castle, Osbourne House and Whippingham church are musts. If it is nature then Newtown creek and Newtown quay will take you to plenty of bird life. Animals, then Sandown Zoo and the dinasure museum also at Sandown. Brading Roman Villa is also an interesting visit. Avoid Newport on Tuesday market day when all the mature visitors flock in by coach. Arreton Barns is full of interest as is the adjacent Arreton church. Havenstreet railway if you are interested in steam trains. Robin Hill adventure park if you have still an adventurous spirit. Ventnor is kind of quaint but gives a coastline walk through to the botanical gardens. Another coastline walk is from Colwell to Totland. At Totland pier is a small cafe that does the meanest fish and chips. Leave some chips and take outside and throw up in the air for the gulls to catch. Super photo opportunities. Dimbola Lodge hosts the IoW. digital Imaging group on a Wednesday night and welcomes visitors. Check the tide and if it works, Bembridge Ledge is uncovered at low tide and you can check out all the pools of water for marine life. Dont think I have left you time for eating and sleeping. What about the wife? Where does she fit into your itinery? Enjoy our Island. It is unique in many ways. Plenty of eateries and good pubs and the natives generally friendly. Watch out for the speed cameras. The local Council have them concealed in the craftiest places. Drive under 40 and mind the pot holes. Should be enough for now. regards Thoramay.
