By all means keep the tripod in a case when it's in the boot of the car, but I would strongly advise not using for when you're carrying the thing about - it will be one more reason not to stop and use it.

I use a tripod a lot, but that's because it suits the sort of photography I do. It allows precise framing, repeatability of shots (perhaps your composition's perfect, but there's a stray bit of grass in the shot - remove the grass and re-shoot. Same goes for if the exposure's not quite right, or you're waiting for the sun to come out/go in etc.), and a more measured approach to your photos.

If you're doing street candids, or birds/planes in flight, or a whole host of other subjects, you may find you never use a tripod.

But for me a tripod opens up a plethora of shots that simply wouldn't be possible without it, or at least wouldn't be the same without it.

I would guess (albeit it an educated guess) that these are not edible, because of the remains of the veil across the cap of the toadstool (the spots), which makes me think it's an amanita, possibly a Panther Cap.

Could be wrong, but there's a good description of smell etc on that wiki page.

I've just deleted one entry as it was taken with a Sony. Please remember it's a Pentax camera/Samsung DSLR competition only!

The thing you could do is buy a Canon camera and use an adapter to use Pentax lenses that would work.
Only Canon's APS-C cameras: on the full-frame ones (5D and 1D series) the mirror hits one of the sticky-out bits (yes that is a technical term!) on the back of the lens.
Are you sure? I thought that was just the EF-S lenses and all the L-series lenses were full frame.

I never saw any requests for material, or of a 'guidelines for contributors' article anywhere.

Maybe I didn't look hard enough...
