Plastic milk bottles seem popular sources of material for this, you can buy diffusers but the milk bottle is cheaper!

In my experience they will flick from one end of their range to the other and give up around infinity. Handy if you want a lens to retract before turning the camera off, just point it at a blank wall, half press, and the lens eventually retracts!

I thought you didn't like the K lenses?

The 400mm primes are a tricky one. The AF lens will be worth more, but it's probably the more useful of the two to you.

I can't really see anything else in your collection that is duplicated. The 55-300mm is tiny compared to the Bigma so worth keeping, and you say you find the 28-200mm useful. Assuming you're using the macro lens it should stay as it fills a gap.

Probably your best target for infinity focus would be the moon?

Are you not going to have blood all over your viewfinder?
Nah, the creatures are about the size of a full stop.

They just get magnified rather dramatically when you see them in the viewfinder, and are distracting when they start moving about when you're trying to compose a shot!

I have had a brief look and can't see any sign of it, so I'll assume it sloped off somewhere out of the visible area to explode.

I could if I had a KX ice cube tray...

Pentax, are you listening?

The camera will be spending the night in the airing cupboard to thaw out now, as that's the warmest, driest place in the house.

This is the old mechanical KX. Not the digital one (which I don't have, and certainly wouldn't advocate freezing as the LCD and sensor probably wouldn't like it).

Providing I don't use it until everything is thawed out it should be fine!

I've had to put my KX in the freezer.

While shooting today I noticed something moving about in the viewfinder, which looked exactly like the descriptions I've read of camera (dust) mites! The general advice seemed to be put it in a sealed bag in the freezer, so I'll fish it out tomorrow morning and hope the little blighter has gone pop (as they apparently do when frozen).

Annoyingly the 50/1.4 I was planning to buy for it the week after next has sold. Can see plenty of M versions but that was a K and would have matched perfectly.

If you just want a simple bounce flash then look at the AF240Z. Has program, auto and manual settings all of which will work with a DSLR. It also has a bounce and zoom head and can be found for relative pennies.

If you want something more flexible then the AF280T will suit. This has bounce/pan abilities, two auto modes, and variable power in manual mode. It is, however, rather more sought-after due to being an incredibly handy flash for the money.
