Plastic milk bottles seem popular sources of material for this, you can buy diffusers but the milk bottle is cheaper!

Thanks, I'll give that a go. Any tips as to securing to the flash? I guess elastic bands would be as good as anything.

I made one for my AF200t from a square milk bottle.
Cut a section from the bottle so you have an open-ended tube.
In one side, cut an oblong hole, the length of which is sufficient to accommodate the width of the flash head. This dim. is not critical.
The height of the hole is, though!
You will notice, on the flash head, there are two grooves, on top & under the front edge of the black body.
The idea is to cut the hole the same as the dim. from bottom of groove to bottom of groove. Make this is too tight rather than too slack.
If you now extend the vertical cuts by about 3mm., you'll find the spring in the plastic "snaps" the diffuser into place & holds it very securely in place.
Voila!
It works.
The flash does "spill" out of the sides, but I don't think that affects performance.

The main thing with the AF200 series flashguns is that the head isn't really the right shape to fit one of the larger softbox-type diffusers - it doesn't stick out far enough from the body.
Pentax themselves made wide angle and telephoto adapters for this flashgun - have a look for the Dimitrov K-Mount Site to find the part numbers if you want to keep an eye open for the genuine parts.

I can see some kind of difusion would be benefical for my shooting needs, which are mainly people based. Before I start cutting up various bits of materials from the recycling bin, has anyone got any suggestions that may help me?
