Just had a thought - you might have a slightly odd version of the 50mm f2 there Kris. Is the aperture ring plastic? If so, it's one of the last batch made before the lens was replaced by the A version. Dimitrov's site has a section about them which explains the differences.

Well the ME Super does have one major advantage over the P30 - it works in aperture priority mode with all lenses. Given I tend to shoot at around f8 unless I want a specific effect this suits me very well. You can also bolt a Winder (ME or ME II) on, I'm ambivalent about those as while they make a good grip they also make the camera heavier and bulkier so mine tends to go on and off fairly regularly depending on how I feel.

The P30 is stuck with Program (using A series or later lenses) or metered manual.

I think I've managed to resurrect one of my pile of dead ME Supers today, planning to get some new material to replace the peeling leatherette and give it a film test in a couple of weeks (after some exhaustive testing to confirm that the shutter will now cock every time, as before it didn't always work). Now up to one chrome, one black, and shortly one black with dark red inserts.

Agreed, use your 35mm. It's roughly equivalent in field of view to the old 50mm standard lens on film, very sharp, compact, and weighs next to nothing.

Before I had that I used a Pentax-M 28mm f3.5 then an SMC Pentax 28mm f3.5. Still got both, but they're now stuffed in a pocket when I take a film camera out just in case I need a wider angle.

Yeah, it's an excellent bit of software. Also good for HDR processing.
How do you do that with it? I haven't pressed all the buttons as I've worked out how to do what I want so far (stitch panoramas), but if it can do HDR as well I'll have a go.

aaaaahhh, ok. Looks like a pretty fun road

Well it does consistently come in the top ten when people are asked where they'd like to see closed road rallying here. It also passes the legendary Strata Florida byway which was used for navigation rallies by normal cars back in the '60s but thanks to heavy rain and lack of maintenance is now something of a challenge in a properly equipped 4x4.

I think we can expect to see the K-r in colours to match that colour chart for the 35mm f2.4 that was posted a while ago.

A couple of those clip-on K-x mascots turned up on ebay recently, I forget how much they were. I was strangely tempted but given that my next body will probably be a white K-r they wouldn't really match.

Hang onto the better of the ME Supers too, brilliant little cameras. A good film scan can still beat full frame digital gear costing a lot more.

I would be quite inclined to ask for a parachute by way of safety kit. He's more than high enough up for it to open and slow his descent.

I hope the weather behaves next Tuesday as I'd quite like to get back out to Llyn Brianne. I accidentally deleted the shots I took there just after buying my K-m and I've been trying to find weather as good to take some new ones ever since. There should be water in the spillway after the past few days.
what are you intending to do? My T mount adapter should be at SRS in the next few days: the weather's set to go back the right side of -10, too, so we might get a decent show on the 22nd.....

Bret
In more or less this order:

Drive Abergwesyn Pass
Arrive Llyn Brianne

Take plenty of photos of giant man-made waterfall.

Uhh, I think it is...

Last time I checked you could find an M 50mm f1.4 for between £50 and £100. A new FA 50mm f1.4 goes for about three times as much!
