I have been seeing more of these in magazines lately, do they do it because it actually changes the rules governing advertisments? or are they just sponsored articles?

On the maximum memory topic it may be worth checking out if there is a later firmware avilable for the bios and what changes it makes. I have seen systems that required updates to support memory not available at the time of design, although I fear with a P4 2.8 this is probably not the case here.

If you are not comfortable upgrading it yourself you may well find a local computer shop will do it and fit the memory at the same time.

Personally I think you may still find CS3 and Powerpoint together a bit tight in 1Gb but it will certainly be better than 512Mb. Bearing in mind windows XP with service pack 2, anti-virus etc will use ~250Mb so you are effectively going from 250 to 750 Mb for programs.

I agree that memory is your biggest bottleneck in that specs. If you cannot get enough memory in the motherboard, another option that is recommnded is to get a second hard disk fitted and use it exclusively for the swap file and adobe cache files.

I recently got one of those, only used a couple of times so far but been fine. The one I got also came bundled with an adapter to mount on a tripod. Good for battery flash guns but may be better things for studio flash?

I recently got to try a few at a studio flash course and found the only really reliable one on my K10D was the pocket wizards. The ebay ones are not much to loose though if they dont work in your case.

It might be worth checking your anti-virus software if installed, I saw one (Afraid I cant remember which) a while back that had big trouble whenever accessing lots of files at the same time.

Cokin square filters can be good for this as well as there is no thread to have to try and clean it out of afterwards.

I am pretty sure it was pocket wizards we were using at the time.

The other thing I wondered was the IR used a 1.5 v AA wheras the radio I got used a higher voltage lithium battery (Not sure what the pocket wizzards used). Do you think that could make a difference to triggering?

I think that refers to wireless control of a 360/540 with the pop-up not a studio flash?
