Not sure if this is the same problem but a few weeks back I went to a studio flash workshop where there were several light setups.

The setup using a radio trigger worked fine with my K10 but there was another setup using sync cable or IR trigger. Unfortunately having only had the camera a couple of days I had not noticed it had no sync socket so I didnt have an adapter so had to rely on a borrow IR hot shoe transmitter. This was very unreliable. The test button worked fine but you could see from the activity light that many times the transmitter did not fire when the shutter did. Mine was the only one with this problem and nobody could work out why.

I have since bought myself a cheap radio trigger and has been OK so far.

P.S. I was using 1.0 firmware at the time and pop up flash did not work due to the preflash as mentioned above.

EDIt: It was a cheap unbranded trigger not a Bowens or Elinchrome one (The flashes we were using)

Looking at the damage it may be easier if a full repair is expensive to just get the wires soldered up and use it as an off camera wireless flash?

I like the light and detail on the wings and the insect is definately the most interresting bit so a crop down to the insect and the center of the flower would make it more striking.

In practical terms, this is an erroneous argument. I understand what is being suggested, but at normal distances it isn't relevant IMHO.
Thanks, my old bridge camera did not have any other focus points so had to do this and I hoped it didnt make much difference but it didnt allways produce sharp shots anyway. Much hapier now with an SLR again.

On a related note, my left eye is better than my right so I tend to use that which puts my nose on the focus point select D-Pad not making the easiest to use.

Set the focus point to centre only, focus/lock and then recompose. Much easier.
I used to use this a lot but someone pointed me to

Not sure it should make too big a difference on most subjects with smaller appertures but I hadnt considered it until then. Also I find the ability to manually override the autofocus on the new DA lenses very convenient with this.

I suppose my question is whether anyone here has can put dirt to the speculation that there really is a K10Ds in the works and is it's release date going to be anytime soon? If so then it makes sense to hold off a couple of months, no?
To further muddy the waters I believe quite a lot of the speculation is attributed to a Samsung exec's comments earlier this year. So even if it is true no guarantees on the Pentax version I guess.

I generally have been shooting the remote flash through a brolly. I thought I had mentioned that in my initial post but I see after all the copy/paste and re-writes that I left that out. (stupid!)
Although honestly didn't think the flash needed to "see" the subject for PTTL.

Could the brolly be messing with (Smoothing) the encoded flash that the popup sends back to program it after the P-TTL measurement, hence causing the external Flash to think the camera has asked it to set a different power to what it really did?

I dont know how robust the signalling is but I had problems today getting my 360 to fire when the Flash sensor was in direct sunlight.

Ouch, quite a jump, never realised it was so much.

Be aware that you are likely to get a bill for tax from HM Customs, along with the lens!
Is this just V.A.T. or is it more than that?

Thanks

Haven't vertical run focal plane shutters been commonplace in film cameras for years? I think my Super-A had one, 1983 vintage.
This thread sparked a bit of web browsing on Pentax cameras and yes you seem to be right I had assumed they would all go with the film advance, my Pentax experience leaps straight from the K1000 to the K10D.

Starting to see what I missed
