My local shop reckoned that most allready had destined homes, 150 is not that many. Not sure the colour appeals to me though.

If you have friendly best man and bridesmaids it may be worth checking if they (or any other relations) will have the dresses and suits the night before say and would be up for a practice. That way you can practice and may get some shots you can use in the final set without eating into your time on the day. Hi, I know there are not many hard and fast rules here but is the general intention for people to be taking new pictures for the competion or are people happy with entering existing pictures?

I seem to remember Digital Photographer magazine gave them a bit of a plug a month or two back but didnt say too much. Caught my eye as they seemed to be pushing the british landmarks and icons idea.

A mind reading camera would be useful but I guess they have to keep something for the next model.

Yes thats what I am after but dont have, with the DA lens on mine if I use the focus ring to override and take the AF sensor it used out of focus it will not fire the shutter even if I fully depress the shutter. If I manually put focus back to where the AF system wants it and fully depress the shutter then it will fire.if you keep the shutter button half pressed after locking focus then the shutter will still fire.
at least it does on mine, if this doesn't work for you we'll have to figure out what custom setting I changed to make it happen.

Yes that works on mine, and more interrestingly, and this has me puzzled, having returned the setting back to default I can now adjust focus and the shutter will release. I have also recently upgraded the firmware so perhaps that had a bearing.Alternatively if you turn off "AF on shutter button pressed halfway" in the custom functions, and set the AF button to "enable AF" then the camera focuses when you hit the AF button instead of on a half press of the shutter. In this mode the camera will fire even when out of focus (again, this works on mine).

I thought I read this was possible but I cannot seem to find the option anywhere so hoping someone can help.
In AF-S mode on my K10D is it possible to override the lock on taking a picture if the camera thinks the frame is out of focus. On several ocassions I have tried to use the ability to manually refocus the kit lens after autofocus but then it thinks it is out of focus. This is usually when the bit I want sharp is on the edge of the frame.
I know I can put the body in MF mode but still getting used to using an SLR again and have forgotten to focus a few times

I have been experimenting with the settings on my AF-360FGZ and I find the settings dial takes quite a lot of force to turn it. It is not so much force as to not be useable but a bit much to be able to set with my thumb.
I was just wondering what other peoples were like and do they need a bit of running in?

Shutter is electro-mechanical with a 1/180 maximum speed on the K10D. Higher speeds are achieved by a slot streak exposure mechanism with the first and second curtain as far as I understood it.
EDIT: Stopping to think about it, it gives a shorter curtain travel and so a higher flash sync speed.
